We stayed here while on business at the University of Maine nearby. Room was a good size, beds comfortable and staff very helpful. The river is nearby which is very pretty and they have a small “happy hour” to help guests get to know one...More

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
