We have nothing but praise for the staff and service we received. The food was excellent and I'll never be able to eat another "regular" pancake again. Hospitality made us feel like we were long lost friends. Location is close to downtown Portland and all that comes with that.

We stayed at The Danforth for 2 nights last weekend and it was one of the most wonderful places I've stayed. The house, rooms and everyone who worked there were so warm and welcoming. I absolutely loved all the personal touches, down to personalized breakfast menus. The cocktails and food were delicious and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone... More

Elegant modern inn with a chef certain to please. You can depend on Tim and Parr, innkeepers, to make you comfortable. Awesome colored lights in the cupola and a green moss chandelier in the parlor. Large comfortable rooms with en suite bath.

We were made very welcome on our arrival at The Danforth Inn ahead of a 3 night stay. The property is maintained to an extremely high standard with a keen eye for attention to detail. We were very impressed by the level of service provided throughout our stay, particularly from Hope and Pear, who were both really friendly.

We both loved this hotel. The whole building is beautifully elegant yet modern. We have a house a 100 years older than this, but very similar in style and have taken back some decor ideas with the 'pops' of colour. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We had the tasting menu in the restaurant one evening, which was fantastic!... More

I love this little boutique hotel. It is charming and elegant yet unpretentious. The rooms are lovely and the attention to detail is remarkable. The staff is we,coming and warm. If I could live there, I would.

The property is beautiful and easy to find. We loved that the location was an easy walk to everything in town. The staff were all very accommodating. We were in the Monument Square room, on the third floor. We knew ahead of time there were no elevators, but those are some steep stairs to climb! Plus the flight of stairs... More

The hotel is beautifully furnished but I was not happy that there was no elevator. I thought the food very well presented but if you are not a fan of Asian cuisine then you have a problem. The friends we were with suffered in this regard. I repeat that the hotel is a joy to look at but the price... More

Very professional and highly accommodating staff - nice area - close to restaurants and water front. Lovely, comfortable room - personalized message with turn down service and breakfast menu a nice added touch. Wished we could have stayed longer.

This was the best stay during our two-werk vacation in terms of comfort, hospitality and service that exceeded our expectations. Everyone treated us personally and provided warm service with personal attention to details. It is a beautiful hotel made outstanding through its exemplary staff. Thank you Danforth Inn for giving us the time if our lives in Portland.

The Danforth is the grande dame of the Portland, Maine boutique hotel scene. Built in the 1800's, extensive renovations to design and (mostly) new bathrooms have married historic gentility with classic but contemporary stylings. Basement billiard room, a widow's walk with views, three course breakfasts - who could ask for more? A recent review called The Danforth an historic mansion with a hip vibe. ... more   less
