This was our second stay at the Claremont. We were familiar with the historic property, the gorgeous view of Sommes Sound, the Dockside Bar. This time we stayed in the Phillips Cottage in a waterside room. Lovely large room with 5 large windows and a...More
This is clearly not a hotel that appeals to everyone. It has loads of charm and historic elegance, and of course, an amazing location/view, but the facilities have definitely seen better days. We love it! It was our second stay and we will be back....More
If the view was the only criteria, this would be a 5 star...but add to that one of the best restaurants in the area, beautiful manicured croquet lawns, old world comfort and service and you have one of the most desireable vacation destinations available on...More
I agree with Courtney, the reviewer prior to mine. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cottages on the property for $390/night from 8/1-8/5 and while we loved the picturesque location, we extremely disappointed in the condition of the cottage and service of the...More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit that had view of the sound from the master bedroom, living room and deck. There was a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, full kitchen and large deck with table for 4. There are some units right on the water, but not sure if they have gas or wood fireplaces. Beal's lobster pier is short walk away and is excellent. Thurston's lobster pound is about 15-minute drive and is also excellent.

"Go with the Phillips cottage, quieter and more private. Lovely rooms."
