In retrospect we were so glad we had been recommended to stay a few days at Stonington for our first experience of Arcadia, as it truly is a real working Maine harbour and untouristy - the very very "quiet side" ! The Inn at Stonington is a great little B&B right in the middle of the village, with friendly staff... More

I so love the Inn. It's laid back, comfy and everyone there is terrific. Christina has put together a great book that provides all types of interesting and thoughtful info on the Island, Maine, things to do, where to go and what to see. I love this personalized touch! Stonington is a wonderful village full of wonderful people. Each time... More

The room was nice with a door that opened to the deck/ dock. The staff were exceptionally nice, breakfast was good, room clean . . . my only complaint was the noise on the harbor that started at 4 5 am.

For starters, Stonington was our favorite Maine coastal town. The Inn on the Harbor was a big part of that overall experience. No misnomer, the Inn is right on the harbor, with most rooms facing the harbor and plenty of deck space for those that don't. We loved just chilling on the upper deck with binoculars taking in all the... More

My wife and I had a wonderful room on the first floor which had access to the deck on the water. The lobster boats leaving in the morning DID NOT WAKE ME as I had been told that they might. Clean, comfortable with charming touches. The beds gave us a great nights sleep. Breakfast was basic and in a very... More

We checked in but our room was so unpleasant we had to leave. I will admit the views are gorgeous but the room left a lot to be desired. This is was so depressing and dated that we decided to call it a loss and book another hotel room in Bar Harbor where they have more than one reataurant open.

One of the best aspects of being an Innkeeper is being able to make people happy. And one of the most important responsibilities of an Innkeeper is to respond wholeheartedly to a guest who is not happy. Unfortunately we were not given the opportunity to know that these guests were unhappy. They checked in, never even put their bags in... More

Charming bed and breakfast. Loved the scene form the room and deck. The owner has a great book with all kinds of info about the area and other interesting tidbits. We stayed one night. Breakfast is nothing great but acceptable. Wish they offered the espresso before 11 AM. Would have been nice to have a great coffee and enjoy the... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. We spent the first night in the Heritage room (which seems to be the room everybody wants) and the view from that room is gorgeous. It was pretty warm while we were there and that room was pretty warm probably due to its location on the 2nd floor and all of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPEN YEAR ROUND Known for its unique charm and spectacular view of the Penobscot Bay islands, the Inn on the Harbor on Deer Isle offers a perfect romantic waterfront retreat. Built in the 1880s and perched right on the edge of picturesque Stonington Harbor, this bed and breakfast captures the very essence of Maine's Downeast island life. Ten of the thirteen individually decorated guestrooms face the sea and enjoy gorgeous views of Isle au Haut, the Windjammers and the island's fishing fleet. Guests can relax on the spacious flower-covered deck extending out into the harbor and enjoy the tide rising and falling beneath the Inn. They can fall asleep to the sound of nearby Mark Island Light's foghorn and wake up to the lobstermen heading out to sea. Several of our rooms have wood burning fireplaces and/or private decks. Our accommodations are relaxed and comfortable, all with private baths and sitting areas. The coastal atmosphere, with fresh salt air and brilliant sunny skies, encourages many of our guests to simply put their feet up and relax while watching Stonington's bustling waterfront. This is Maine's Downeast island life at its best. ... more   less
