I wish I could give zero stars. Ive stayed at plenty of discounted and dated motels that I would return to, but this is by far the worst. At check in the clerk had her young children distracting her. Upon opening the door the smell of mold and floral spray could knock you over. The carpet was moist and filthy. When I asked if we could switch rooms due to allergies to one without carpet she said we could but for only one night, we would have to move back for our 2nd night. The beds were flimsy and linens worn and gray. We paid for 3 adult guests and only 1 towel in the room, we went to the office and they said they don't have any more you'll have to get them tomorrow. the bathroom door doesn't close properly and doesn't clear the toilet. The toilet had a constant leak, black mold on the bathroom wall. ,Glad I had cleaner in my car, as we had to clean the shower and bathroom floors before use. Their kinda white towel was brown once we wiped down the floor. and the shower stall had no floor support. The wall mounted sink almost fell on us and the electrical outlets are only 2 prong that nothing would stay plugged into. Not grounded. 1 nasty rusted lamp to light the entire room and the tv didn't work. the air conditioner was moldy and the only heat source was an old heat coil that looked like a stove burner in the ceiling that stayed on after turning off the switch, and smelled of ectrical. There was an outdated phone that was broken and not able to be plugged in. There are no chairs in the room. The outside door had a large gap on the bottom and the rusted chain lock would stick, so you couldn't secure the door to your room. Questionable activity all hours of the night as cars coming and going and nearby room doors were slammed regularly. The amount of cigarette butts outside the room was appalling. I'm pretty sure there were left behind from the residents living there On a positive note we love Wells! But this place is unsafe and should be condemned!

I called this motel and booked and paid for a room for a friend of mine. She drove up there only to find out that the woman at the front desk had reserved it for the wrong night and there were no more rooms available. The woman at the front desk assured us that I would receive a full refund since it was their error. I have yet to receive a refund and they never answer the phone when I call.

Our group has gone to the Majestic Regency for 14 yrs and have rented 8-12 suites/rooms each visit. We were thrilled to see their email about their million dollar renovation (They really needed it). We booked 8+/- rooms for the 3rd week end in September. We're aware that Covid has done a number on businesses and wanted to help out our old friends. From what we could tell the renovations was exterior paint and flooring and paint in some of the rooms. BUT the rooms were filthy, the linens were filthy and a lot of them smelled to the point that two of our group had to move for medical reasons (dust/mold/mildew). Their usual Contenential breakfast with Congdon's donuts has been replaced with store bought donuts and one type of bagel. No half/half for coffee, no butter, a jug of orange juice and a jug apple juice. The breakfast room was now a storage dump for all the furniture they moved out of the rooms during renovation. AND the flooring had been ripped up to the concrete and filthy. The 2 ice machines were not working and ripped apart. The phone in my room had a message light flashing and called the desk to check on messages. The desk clerk was as rude as they come and had no idea what I was talking about and just passed it off as "it don't mean nothing". (I was coordinating the w/e for our group so it was possible that someone had left a message). Didn't use the pool or any of the other amenities. We were so disappointed in the hole place. We will NOT be returning. The housekeeping staff were extremely helpful in getting us replacement linens and anything else we needed. They admitted they were short staffed and working hard to set things right. It's not their fault. IT'S OWNERSHIPS fault!!!!! I took photos of the things in our room that were unacceptable and intend to forward to the owners and possibly the Health Department. IMHO the place should be closed down.

First let me state that I have traveled many places in this world and have stayed in everything from luxurious to super basic. My goal for this trip, was to see Maine and be with my family. Good news: Location, location, Maine is gorgeous and being with my family. Bad news: everything else at this motel. We were supposed to have the room by 3:00--could not get in until 5-5:30pm because they did not have enough cleaning help. The room is tired and outdated- where is the renovation that they talk about on line? Side chair had so many awful stains I used towel to sit on it. The mattress was so beat up had to sleep on the far edges so I did not sink in the middle. The whole room smelled like the inside of an industrial strength disinfectant bottle. Forget the "continental breakfast". It consisted of a loaf of generic white bread, a loaf of generic wheat bread, a JAR of jelly, a stick of butter thrown on a table with foam dishes. Hear of COVID lately? Not exactly what I would call keeping it sanitary. I stuck to the generic raisin bran in a container as the safest choice- then ate out the next morning. The dining room itself is depressing beyond words. I don't know when they took the photos they had on line, but it must have been years ago. I feel sorry for the cleaning people, I think they try their best with what they have to work with. I would rather sleep in my car.

I went her with my family for we were supposed to stay two nights however the first night I and my 5 1/1 year old daughter slept on the pullout couch the mattress had blood stains all over it I put all the blankets down and just used one little blanket to seep with. I woke up the next morning with flea bites on my feet, ankles, and legs. The kitchen was disgusting, bathroom was small, and the coffee maker was full of grime. I don't know why they have a cleaning crew since it doesn't look like they do much cleaning. I think the place should be shut down! Absolutely filthy.
