Certificate of Excellence
Built in 1744 as an Inn, this is one of Amerca's oldest. Fully refurbished and redecorated in 2016 it retains its original Federal character. The Historic town of Princess Anne exemplifies small town America yet is close to Assateague, Chincoteague, Rehoboth, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. Crisfield is 20 minutes drive and gives access to Smith Island and the Bay. The City of Salisbury is ten minutes drive and The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a few blocks away from the Inn. Great food and friendly service is to be enjoyed in our Tavern and Dining Rooms.

The moment you drive down Somerset Ave you'll notice a handful of old and beautiful buildings. This little downtown area has two antique stores, and a beautiful little park on Washington St and Somerset Ave. The Washington Inn and Tavern was a treat I would...More

Passing thru on our way to OBX on a Friday night. No reservation but decided this looked like the quiet, unique experience we wanted. We had a queen room - #5. The lobby and common areas have the feeling of history. A real metal key...More

Thank you for staying at our 1744 Inn. Fully and thoroughly refurbished in 2016, the most historic parts have been preserved and everything else modernized, best of both worlds perhaps. Delighted you enjoyed your experience and our local characters that enjoy breakfast round the bar....More

This is a small historic inn so it has the quirks that go along with old buildings - creaky floors, slanted stairs and floors. We found it charming, others might not. Rooms are clean, recently refurbished with cherry furniture, modern bathrooms, decent closet, wifi and...More

Thank you for your review following your recent stay at our Inn. Whilst the second oldest in the state, it was entirely refurbished in 2016 and during that we worked hard to maintain all the quirky features associated with an ancient Inn. Delighted you enjoyed...More
