I doubt there is a more beautiful and idyllic setting on the entire island that you can enjoy as a guest! These gorgeous and peaceful surroundings put you in a world outside of your daily concerns at home, as does the cozy simplicity of the rooms and the rest of the house (breakfast room, living room). My experience is that...

This old New England style homestead was exactly what we had hoped for. The Vineyard has always been a weekend getaway spot for my husband and I. This year we decided we would stay in Chilmark and chose the Captain Flanders House after driving by the beautiful meadows and stonewalled fields last fall. We were so pleased with the ambience...

Beautiful surroundings it has, but I could get that camping. The rooms don't have locks, the floors have holes (and cockroaches), and the staff/maid/ innkeeper are nowhere to be found. We had to call repeatedly to even get them to grace us with their presence to get passes for the beach. No thanks, I'd rather go elsewhere.

If you are looking for the service at the four seasons hotel and willing to pay between $500 and $1000 a night this really is not the place for you. If you think someone is going to meet and great every time you go out, replace your water bottle every time its empty and boil water for tea, make crumpets...

Having had a whirlwind trip around 6 cities in 9 days we arrived at Captain Flanders looking forward to 6 days of R & R. Our first impressions were good, it was set in beautiful, tranquil surroundings, a lake, deer, horses, geese. We thought we'd arrived in heaven. Unfortunately it wasn't quite as idyllic as we hoped. Nobody was there...

There is no doubt that the location of Captain Flander's is second to none and the free bus pass and beach pass add to its charm but the lack of facilities regarding refreshments is sadly lacking . We were booked in for 6 nights having trekked all around E. Canada and we looked forward to relaxing in a quiet setting...

Once again I apologize that the guests were unhappy. I wish it had been brought to my attention when they were at the property so we may have addressed their concerns while they were there. We don't want anyone to be disappointed with their stay at the B&B.

We stayed at Captain Flanders for two nights and it was wonderfully relaxing. The inn is sited on an old farm amidst beautiful countryside which is teeming with wildlife. We stayed in one of the cottages, separate to the main building. The cottage is decorated in a simple style but it has everything you need. Our only (minor) complaint was...

This is probably the 10th time we've stayed at Capt. Flanders over the past 25 year. It hasn't changed a bit. That's what so nice. It brings back great memories, romantic nights, and fun times. It's the only place I would stay on the island. Kathy the "house mom" was fantastic and met our every need. I don't want too...

My partner and I learned of Captain Flanders House only recently. Upon arrival, we were stunned to find a place of such rare beauty. There is an authenticity to this former farmstead, with its ancient stone walls...one can sense the layers of history on this venerable land. The inn exudes old Vineyard charm; it is unpretentious and naturally elegant. The...

The Captain Flanders House best asset is its staff and its wonderfully serene setting. Staff members are terrifically helpful, friendly and just a joy to be around. The setting of the inn is just beautiful, typical of this part of Martha's Vineyard, the town of Chilmark, featuring rolling fields, the stone walls common on this part of the island, and...
