very comfortable, congenial, relaxed. Beth continues her mother's traditional welcoming B and B. We've always asked for the least expensive room , and have stayed in charming small rooms where we've been very happy. The glassed in porch the length of the front of the house is very special and homey, wonderful views and good folks stop here. I believe...

Beth, now running the show since Nancy retired. Still "regulars" come by to enjoy Gloucester and environs ... and add to the experience. Breakfast meals are okay and the people make for a good experience.

Great location right on the beach! So close that you can walk back to the inn for lunch or to use the bathroom!Beth and her family are so warm and make you feel right at home! They have beach chairs, games, and umbrellas for the beach. I plan on retiring to this great vacation spot!!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Samarkand Inn for our 30th anniversary. It is a beautiful, quaint home and we felt like part of the family. Our hostess Beth was very gracious and saw to our needs. Our first night in late May was quite cold (30's) and they even provided an extra space heater. She provided great...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Nancy is very sweet and cannot do enough for her guests. The rooms were clean but layed out strangely. Great view from a few rooms. Location is very nice. Cereal, toast and homemade breads/ coffee cake for breakfast.

I stumbled across this gem 25 years ago and my family and I have frequented the Inn ever since. I hope heaven is this beautiful and the people there so kind and wonderful. It's nice to dream about returning, because Samarkand Inn is so magical. This Inn is not sterile, it almost demands that you curl up in a chair...

Top marks for the proximity to the beach and the graciousness of the hostess. The house however is unkempt and cluttered. For those who are laid back about those kind of things, maybe it won't bother you. The room cleanliness was okay, far from perfect. Sheets were clean but the mattress pad was questionable. The common rooms were disasters. Around...

This house is right across from the beach and you can hear the waves if you leave the windows open in the rooms. The room we stayed in (the one shown on the website) is roomy and we were given access to the adjoining room so we had a full bathroom available to us. But the shower and the toilet...

Absolutely beautiful location, right across from Good Harbor beach. Unfortunatly we could not even stay a night and were able to book last minute at another Inn. Unkempt, cluttered and shabby (not in a chic way ) are the best words I can think of to describe the Inn. Not at all like pictures on Inn's website. It's really too...
