Briarcliff is an authentic 1960’s motel which has been transformed into a contemporary, stylish motor lodge for the 21st century traveler. Complete with a roaring pellet stove in the lobby common area, a daily rustic continental breakfast and an outdoor fire pit which brings families, friends and strangers together, Briarcliff harkens the return of the great American family road trip. We are located directly across the street from Monument Mountain, one of the Berkshires most popular natural landmarks, five minutes from Great Barrington and Stockbridge, and under 15 from Tanglewood.

I will definitely stay here again. The rooms are cute, cozy and comfortable. They're also quite large. Windows on both the back and front walls let in lots of light. They turned on the outdoor gas firepit at night which added to the coziness of the place since you can see it

This unassuming motel on Route 7, between Stockbridge and Great Barrington may look dated, but the rooms are spacious, clean and contemporary. Out front there is a fire bowl to enjoy a yarn or two with fellow travellers and out back is ample space for kids to run around, or

I took a last minute trip upstate to go skiing and came across this place. I loved the feel I got from skimming through the pictures. The other motels in the area look super outdated. The front desk called me ahead of time and gave me my room number which I loved because I no

Dear Guest, We are so glad to learn that overall you enjoyed your first stay with us and we hope to welcome you back soon. We promise that we can provide you with pillows to your liking and we apologize for the maintenance issue with your blinds. We are checking all of our blinds today to make sure that this issue does not detract from any of our guests visits to Briarcliff. We agree with you that Briarcliff is a perfect option for a ski trip to the Berkshires! Sincerely, R. Mickey

This motel has been spruced up,with a paint job and some new furnishings. They have added the idea of a free breakfast in a common space next to the office. The breakfast is serviceable and will save you a few bucks but is nothing special. We found the rooms quite loud. The way

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to share your feedback concerning your recent stay at Briarcliff. Briarcliff is a unique lodging option in the Berkshires. It is an affordable contemporary 60’s motel with a hip & homey vibe located directly across from Monument Mountain. We apologize that the issues you describe concerning noise detracted from your romantic getaway and is not an issue that we normally hear from our guests. We hope to have the honor of welcoming you back again so that you might have the opportunity to cozy up around our romantic fire pit area and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views. Sincerely, R. Mickey

Thanksgiving night we were fortunate to reserve a Briarcliff Motel room that was just 15 minutes away from our family gathering. Since it was bitterly cold, we were thankful that the motel manager phoned us in advance to make sure we had the room number (room #7) and door code

Dear Dave, We are so sorry that this mistake happened. Admittedly we really dropped the ball on this one, but we can assure you it was a one time occurrence. We had a very busy Thanksgiving, with many of our guests arriving after 10 pm. Our front desk agent reached out to our late arrivals before she left for the evening to let them know what room they would each be in and what their key code was. She had also left a welcome note on the door for you with this information as well as other important information about the motel. This note was mistakenly picked up by another guest (with a very similar name). This guest was meant to be in a different room with a different key-code. We have retrained the front desk staff and put new polices in place so this will never happen again. We are sorry that we were unable to reach the General Manager. Thanksgiving got the best of us and we all feel asleep early, but that is why we have the Red Lion Inn phone number posted on the door for emergencies. We are happy that we were able to accommodate your group at the Red Lion Inn at no charge. If you are in the area again visiting family, please reach out to us. We would love the opportunity to make this up to you.

Is there a lake nearby for swimming?
Sorry, I only just saw this: there are a lot of great lake-swimming spots nearly. We like Benedict Pond, which is open to all and has a small sandy beach and picnic facilities (you can even buy a small bundle of firewood and make a little campfire) - about ten minutes from the motel. Lake Mansfield, which is in Great Barrington itself, is where the local kids learn to swim, and is a great family destination.

Hi there: well, it would be strange for me to say that they're not clean I guess! We only allow dogs in two specific rooms, and we charge $20 extra per dog which goes towards extra cleaning. We have a high reputation for cleanliness on TA, and this includes our dog rooms. You can actually see pictures of the rooms on the website - the room with two beds has the 'Work Hard and Be Nice to People' poster, and the king bed room is the one with the brown circles duvet cover. You would need to call us to enquire about availability, because our online system cannot differentiate whether those two specific rooms are booked, we can only do that over the phone. Hope this answers your question. best, Clare Proctor (owner).
