Aside of the unusually long check in process, the women who checked us in was not the friendliest person at all. We were suppose to spend one night here and onto our next destination the very next morning. First, my husband, our two adult sons and I were looking for our room when a guy who apparently worked there yelled out to us, “can I help you find something?” as if we were going to vandalize the place. He was so unwelcoming. When we got to our rooms we all immediately smelled gas! My husband told the woman at the check in desk about it and she told us that we did not smell gas! My husband then asked if she could just move us into two other rooms and she replied that there would be a $60 charge to move us. She was extremely unfriendly and she could’ve made it right so easily. We left and probably won’t get refunded, unfortunately. I am trying to take it up with the company that owns the hotel. I definitely would not recommend this place.

Stay away from this hotel. This is lengthy but a must read regarding this horrible company that should be ashamed of themselves. This company’s manager is named Karen. She is a disgraceful human. We were supposed to check in Friday August 13. My sister and I booked this hotel as part of a Christmas gift we gave to our 2 aunts for a girls weekend. My sister booked the rooms with her credit card. On Wednesday August 11 my niece, my sister’s 17 month old daughter, was attacked by a Rottweiler. Bitten multiple times on her head leaving skull fractures and requiring multiple surgeries. Lucky to be alive. My sister called me on her way to her daughters side at the children’s hospital. Shortly after I called the hotel to see what we could possibly do with our reservation, obviously my sister could not go. This was the early evening staff, some woman who had no clue how anything works. Said there was nothing that could be done but my sister should call the hotel tomorrow. She needs to speak to the manager. She said the manager’s name is Karen, she wasn’t there tomorrow and she also doesn’t know her schedule. Okay thanks for all you’re great help. My sister calls the next day, the day before check in, and has to leave her name and number for Karen to call her back. Karen returns her call 2 hours later and luckily she was able to answer her phone at her daughter’s bedside. She explained what happened. Karen said “omg that’s so terrible I’m so sorry.” Then her tone changed and she said… “yeah there’s nothing that can be done it’s non refundable.” My sister continued to say she understood, could we possibly push the trip out to another weekend even the slow colder season? No. Okay that’s fine I understand. Then says to Karen, okay so then someone else will need to check in because I obviously can’t be there. To which Karen proceeds to explain that is okay but she will have to email forms for her to fill out, sign, and return with a copy of her ID and the credit card used to book. My sister was appalled. How does Karen think this is going to be done from the children’s hospital, in between emergency surgeries for her baby. She explained that’s an impossible task to which Karen condescendingly responded “well ya know Melissa, these things can usually be done on the phone these days” Karen was so unprofessional, condescending and could not be any less empathetic. My sister then offered for one of the other guests to show up for check in, pay again for the rooms on their own credit card and then Karen can refund the money to her card. Karen responds “Melissa, I already told you I cannot refund you any money”. And then Karen proceeds to say “Melissa, you booked these rooms in March and are calling the day before check in. There’s nothing that can be done.” My sister was in the hospital on this phone call or else she probably would have lost it at this point. My sister then found time after her baby’s second surgery to send Karen an email and Karen did not care one bit again. She simply stated that the rooms were there if she wanted to show up and check in, otherwise the only way someone else could check in was if she sent her all of those forms. My sister explained there is no way that’s happening as that would require her leaving her baby’s side and with the hospital visitation rules she would not be able to return to her baby if she left. We all understand the hotel cancellation policy and no refunds, no changing dates, whatever. But the way that Karen spoke to my sister and handled this situation is disgraceful and disgusting. I could not imagine any company wanting this Karen to represent their brand and I will make sure as many people as possible know about their lack of empathy and decency. No one should give this kind of company their money. There are plenty of nice hotels in the area. Go elsewhere.

The Hyannis Inn ended up being a last minute booking when another local hotel reservation fell through. They welcomed us with open arms and smiles and completely saved our trip. The rooms are very clean with ample space and you cannot beat the location. Its right in the middle of town - walking distance to shops, restaurants, the park (which has fun local activities) and ferries to other islands like Martha's Vineyard. It's a great place to base yourself if you're looking to explore Cape Cod and we really appreciated the friendliness, professionalism and their recommendations.
