Location is great, backs to Crocker park which is right on Marblehead harbor with beautiful views. We had a great time swimming off the dock there. We stayed in the 2nd floor suite, John was very helpful and provided an air mattress for our son, the other 2 beds were very comfortable and clean with nice linens, etc. Kitchen has...

The Summer House is in a perfect location for visiting Marblehead and the surrounding area. We rented the three bedrooms on the third floor and it was just perfect for our needs. Charming would be a good description. Everything we needed was there. So nice to have some extra space during our down time. Would definitely stay again and would...

The location of this place couldn't be better. RIGHT in the middle of downtown Marblehead, and such a gorgeous area. I stayed one night for a wedding. The room is cozy and comfy, like you're staying at your grandma's house. I love that there was absolutely ZERO fuss with check in/out and the hosts were really helpful via email, and...

Clean, steeped in history, right by the water (!), affordable. Check, check and check. The house is amazing. In the nicest way it added to our understanding of Marblehead, and our enjoyment. John made check in easy, and we loved our one night.

We stayed for two nights in this pretty house. John the proprietor was lovely. We had the front room with queen bed and sofa. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, while clean, was a bit difficult because there was no shower. The backyard was a cool oasis. Summer House is centrally located. Food, shopping and water are nearby. I...

The room showed its years but was decorated with old New England style, right down to the tub with legs. The room and bath were clean and comfortable. The bed was soft and inviting but the pillows were my favorite thing about the room. Had some great night's sleep. Awesome location especially if you attend the Marblehead Festival of Arts....

My wife and I stayed here on our way back from New Hampshire and Maine after Bike Week. We were in Salem and did not feel like fighting traffic. I found the information for Marblehead Summer House online and made a call. John, the proprietor, told us to head over, as he had a room available for the evening. This...

This is our fourth time staying at Summerhouse. We never considered staying anywhere else. John does it all right. You are staying in a house about 300 years old within walking distance of everything good in Marblehead. Walk out the back gate and you have a panorama of one of the most beautiful and historic harbors in the USA. Google...

We (party of six, incl. 3 children) stayed for week at the Marblehead summer house in the aparment on the third floor, which has a wooden deck towards the back of the house. The house is situated in the old and idyllic part of Marblehead and has quite a unique character. Just a minute away from the ocean, through beautiful...

I'm submitting this review quite some time after my stay, to be sure, but that doesn't mean it's any less valid than other, more recent, ones. I had the pleasure of staying at the Marblehead Summer House in late October/early November 2012 (I arrived the night before Superstorm Sandy made landfall). My ground-floor room was very, very comfortable, in regard...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located just 3 miles from the Salem line and the Salem Historic Area, you'll be in the heart of Old Town Marblehead just 200 yards from the Boston Yacht Club, co-sponsor of the Halifax Race. Surrounded by houses built in the 1700’s and 1800’s it's one of the nicest parts of the old village. The house you’ll be staying in was built prior to 1717. We weren’t the USA then you know! Walk through the back gate onto Crocker Park and enjoy swimming off the park’s float, fishing off the rocks, viewing the harbor and its 5 yacht clubs or take in one of the many Marblehead cultural events which take place on the park during the year. During the week of July 4th Crocker Park is one of the centers of activity for the Marblehead Arts Festival. Each of our 5 units include a private full bath, some also include a kitchenette. We're not a B&B and do not serve breakfast, but there are 3 restaurants within a 4 minute walk that do! With the exception of the 3rd Floor Suite the baths do not have showers. They have the original long claw-foot soaking tubs with European shower wand faucets. So, enjoy the bath! ... more   less
