I go there each year for the Seafood Festival in Hampden Beach. It is close to a lot of attractions and very clean and quiet. Each cite has a firepit and picnic table. The park is well laid out and a fun place to walk my dog-I don't get lost there.
Beautiful campground. Clean level sites. Walking distance to either Salisbury beach or to River inlet. Dog friendly and welcome on River side beach. Family friendly, alchohol free, patrolled by Mass State Troopers.
We've been to the reservation many times, my family has reserved spots for 35 years. Great place for kids with bikes. A18 site was fantastic, close to beach and to bathrooms. Last day the beach was practically closed because of rip-tide and incredible waves. You can still swim riverside but current is there so be wary with little ones. Make sure you do a dump run late afternoon or the skunk will pay you a visit.
Just coming back from a 3-days camping trip at this campground. It was very hot and sunny and there was no shade AT ALL on our site (Y33). In this area many campsites have no tree and it is a big problem in my opinion. We did like the family vibe of the place but the number of showers is clearly insufficient. Also, trash cans are nowhere to be found on the whole campground, which leads, in our case, in trash left directly on the site and not removed before our arrival. Lastly, there are LOTS of skunks all around the place, especially in the big bushes. Did not hear of any incident but it's still a bit concerning when you travel with kids.
We have camped here several times with our children. The shower facilities are clean and the camp sites all have electric. The beach access is easy and access to the Merrimack River for surf fishing in convenient. There is also a boat ramp to put in your boat. No alcohol is allowed which is nice for families.
