Penrose Victorian Inn is a gorgeous "Painted Lady" Bed and Breakfast in the Northampton area. We have stayed there twice now, in two different suites - they are all just lovely. Hosts Dick and Nancy Zimmer are warm and gracious, and knowledgeable about things to do and see in the area. And their homemade breakfast is delicious! We look forward...

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at the Penrose Victorian Inn. The inn keepers were wonderful. The location, just outside of Northampton, was great. It was a great change of pace during our New England tour.

From start to finish, this was a wonderful experience. The room was lovely; the inn keepers were both personable and professional; and the food was delicious. I felt right at home and it made my business trip that much more enjoyable. If you want a friendly, historic and charming experience, this is the place to stay!

What a wonderful victorian home. The innkeepers are the best. They are very knowledgeable about the events happening in the area and will even print maps for you. The breakfasts are hardy and all homemade. All requests were met with ease. We would gladly stay again.

Nancy and Dick run an efficient B&B just 15 minutes outside of Northampton, convenient to Amherst and all the attractions of this area of Massachusetts. Penrose is a Victorian era home furnished with impeccable taste with period antiques. The rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfasts are substantial and well-prepared. Most of all, Nancy and Dick make you feel at home...

We were in the area for a wedding, and the Penrose Inn helped make the whole weekend a wonderful experience. The hosts gave us good tips about where to visit in the area as well. Lovely breakfast, and meeting/talking with the other guests was a good experience.

For three days and nights, the Penrose was our base of operations while we attended a wedding and accompanying events. It is a lovely, clean, well-maintained Victorian with a few modern conveniences. Our hosts Dick and Nancy could not have been more gracious and we will definitely go back.

Warm and inviting atmosphere, with gracious and friendly hosts. Wonderful home cooked breakfast served on the elegantly decorated veranda. The common areas are decorated in true Victorian style (mix of antiques, reproductions, and things collected in world travels). The room was comfortable and cozy. Looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed at the Penrose Inn after a day at the Brimfield Antiques show. Nancy and Dick were the most charming hosts. We enjoyed talking with them about their worldly travels and seeing the treasures they collected throughout the Inn. Not only was the breakfast delicious, it was beautifully presented on elegant dishes with candles. Nancy and Dick sat with...

The property is a beautiful, with flowers around the home, and a gazebo that is relaxing, although cooler weather doesn't always make it available. Rooms were large and comfortable, bathrooms very decadent but comfortable. The hosts made it just like sitting at mom's table or standing in the kitchen talking to Mom and Dad while they made breakfast. Fascinating wall...

“All of the rooms are very lovely but not suited for young children. Definitely a more adult oriented B&B.”

“We enjoyed the Brides Room, which has a connected bath with a shower. (Not all bathrooms are connected or have showers.)”

“We were in the bridal suite, and the morning sun was definitely a wake up call. While we looked in the other rooms, and they seemed to be as big and as nice as ours. All of the rooms and bathrooms were large, and the B&B is in a very quiet area, so the only noise that might wake you is the birds greeting the morning.”

“Brides Room has a walk in shower, Painted Lady Room has a claw foot tub, Lady Purrington Room has bath with claw foot tub across the hall. All rooms have beautiful Amish quilts on the beds.”
monap883, 10 Aug 2014 | Read review
“Bride's Room and Painted Lady have connected bathrooms; Eleanor Purrington Room has private bath across the hallway. All have in-window A/C that help keep the temperature more constant than the open windows and can help to provide white noise if you're sensitive to noise (such as from the nearby road or from neighbors). Also note that all rooms are upstairs and there is no elevator, so this is not a suitable accommodation for those with mobility problems.”
