If you want to be close to the mountain, this is the place to stay. However, it’s not nice. The units are old and not well maintained. Our thermostat was hanging down from the wires, the hvac never worked right - either too hot or too cold. The hinges on the fridge are in the wrong side, if you open the door to the fridge, the person standing at the sink will get a body check. The laminate in the cupboards was peeling off. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath unit for 8 people for 3 nights. A full ‘condo’ unit with kitchen and living room. We had one dishwasher pod and no dish towels or rags. Among the two bathrooms, we had one shampoo. You are likely better off at a VRBO for the price.
I’ve skied multiple Saturdays this year when the resort has sold out of lift tickets. I spent a lot of money this year to stand in lines while they “limited” their capacity. I hope they can get this straightened out in the future. Figure out a better lift ticket system instead of having the lift ticket checkers make me feel as though I’m robbing the place too. Almost every customer experience I had has been a negative one except those working in restaurants.
You normally can find some good combo rates for skiing and staying packages. You can also sometimes get some food options for breakfast and dinner. The skiing is not out west, but it is very enjoyable for the Midwest.
Stayed right off if the slopes, couldn't been more ideal or perfect the access to literally everything! Food wonderful, guests mindful of other guests and the comforters swallow you quickly - sink deep into them and the huge pillowtop beds. Do NOT forget breakfast, I loved the waffles! Can't wait to return..
We stayed in a Deer Lake Villa at Boyne Mountain Resort and were very pleased. The view of Deer Lake is great especially with the close proximity of the lake itself. The set-up of the room was great with all the amenities needed for a multi-day visit. The only bummer (and reason for 4 versus 5 stars) was our room was one that had not yet been renovated—much needed in this case. The decor was very dated, furniture worn, and the sliding glass doors were difficult to open and close. In our case, one of the lake front sliders in the main room was frosted over completely, taking away from the great view :( Once renovated, we would highly recommend staying in the Deer Lake Villas at Boyne!
