This was a beautiful campground located on Lake Superior. It is located west of Munising - not too far of a drive - and across the street from a casino. There are historic sites to explore right in the campground with much access directly to the water. Running drinking water but no showers. There are many trees in this campground...

Visually, Bay Furnace is a lovely campground. Most (though not quite all) of the sites are large and wooded and seem very private. A few of the sites are exceptional. Sites 9 and 10 are right on the Lake. (I liked 10 the best as one side was bordered by woods that totally blocked it from the site beyond it.)...

Wonderful setting, but area manager's attitude was lacking. Campsite was clean, pit toilets could be pretty smelly. Campground host was a very nice guy, but area manager was quite rude to my husband. Apparently there is a problem with duck itch there which is not posted anywhere. According to one camper the locals are all very aware of it so...

Lucky to find this awesome place. We got the last open spot because we did not call/go online for reservations. We prefer primitive camping and found the site large and peaceful. We purchased their wood and they had a wheelbarrow to get it back to our site. They had water to drink but you can't use it for bathing or...

We stopped here based on a friend's recommendation. Really quick stop to read about the furnace and then look for sand glass. Kids enjoyed doing that! Free entertainment. We didn't camp here- just visited the day park and read history and dug on shore for lots of sand glass.

Bay Furnace has reservable sites which was important seeing we travelled from Connecticut. Our site was nicely situated, wooded and shaded, and just a 2 minute walk to the lakeshore. The beach was very nice -- swimming and stargazing were excellent. I did contract swimmer's itch, but had I toweled off and not air dried I suspect that would not...

We didn't camp here, but spent an afternoon enjoying Lake Superior. My 8 year old was so excited to collect some of Lake Superiors famous glass! It wasn't crowded like many of the well advertised beaches. The old furnace was kind of neat to read about also.

It was my first time to the UP so I had no idea of what to expect. Bay Furnace was awesome though. Plenty of woods between the camp sites and if you're lucky you can get a lake front spot. Be warned there is no running water there of any sorts. So there are no modern facilities which is fantastic,...

Great campground, decent sized sites with plenty of tree cover and a 10 minute drive to Pictured Rock Cruises! These sites are all reservable- which really helped considering we had to drive a long ways to get here. Beautiful sunset shots over Lake Superior! (There are a couple prime spots on the lake, which I'm sure get reserved months in...

Right off the road and well worth the time to stop and see the historical site and get a great view of Lake Superior. Very nice picnic area and the cleanest rest rooms we've ever seen at a park.
