Great place for families. Love the beach and the floating raft. Good value, helpful owners. Clean except for carpet which you could understand for a beach resort. Bathroom clean, bed ok, room air conditioner sufficient. Will return next year.

Very clean while still rustic. According to the host, these cabins were built back in the 30's. The craftsmanship is impressive to last all these years! They offer modern amenities while still maintaining the essence of their construction time period. Our cabin was very clean and the host was very polite and attentive to our needs. There is a private beach to catch the morning sunrise on. There was also a bonfire each night. For those with children there is even a playground and plenty of spec for the kids to play. My only complaint was the mattress. Very uncomfortable. Other than that we would return for another stay.

Tawas inn & Resort is one of the best vacation places there is. It is perfect for families. Being family owned and operated, it is so peaceful and relaxing. This resort features cottages and cabins right on the beach. The view is simply breathtaking. There is a playground right behind the cottages right on the beach for the kids. All of the rentals are fully furnished and very comfortable. Please note there is a photo someone posted on this site that is NOT of this resort, it appears to be of a hotel room with 2 beds. Not sure how that pic got on here but it is not part of Tawas Inn & Resort. The gorgeous lake and beach are what you will see when you go to this resort. And don't worry about all the loud roudy crowds, you won't find them here. You will find the most peaceful family friendly vacation spot you could ever wish for. It just doesn't get any better than this...

Cabins are pretty fair, as far as rustic, but beds were primitive, hard as rocks. Saw tag on one mattress with date of 1990. Grounds are not well maintained, had to dig drain by patio to allow rainwater out so it would quit coming into cabin. Cabins too close together, but spaced just enough to get glimpse of bay area, the highlight is of the wonderful view of the old warehouse snuggling on one entire side of property. Prevailing winds harness all garbage in bay to this inlet as well. Obviously no money is put back into this place, might as well bulldoze this eyesore and build condos.

I just want to explain the 3 star review about my recent stay at the Tawas Inn Resort. From 9/2/16 - 9/4/16. We stayed in cabin #4.

Pros (About the Inn and room)
1) Within walking distance of downtown Tawas.
2) Close to Walmart (if you shop there).
3) No pets / No smoking.
4) Kitchen with gas stove, fridge and microwave (small).
5) Couch with pull out bed.
6) Secluded Beach.
7) Friendly new owners on premises.

Cons (about Cabin #4).
1) The toilet is wedged between the shower stall and the wall.
2) Tiny bathroom sink.
3) Older Non HD TV.
5) Dining chairs are too small if you are heavier set person.
6) Free Wi-Fi, but weak signal.

We were beyond pleased with our stay at The Tawas Inn and Resort. We left home without any idea where we would be staying for our long weekend. We merely stumbled on the Tawas Inn and Resort. The row of long cabins are what first caught our eye. As we pulled in we could see the beautiful beach setting and view of Lake Huron/Tawas Bay complete with lounge chairs, swings, gliders, picnic tables and a playground area in the sand for kids. After inquiring with the friendly owner about availability, we were shown 2 cabins. The cabins are rustic and quaint and extremely clean! The cabin had a small kitchen with all of the necessities. The decks and large sandy beach areas are fantastic! The owner is so welcoming and helpful with suggestions for places to eat and things to do. She even lights a campfire every night at 8:30!! We met some very nice people and shared stories around the fire. If you are a nature lover, Tawas Point State park has remarkable nature trails as well as paved bicycle trails. There are beaches everywhere in this town! Bottom line.....we shall return!!!

I was coming home for my Mother's 90th birthday and due to a softball tournament and the Annual Triathlon, I worked through many accommodations until I found a vacancy here.

I rented 2 cabins, one a one bedroom and the other a two bedroom. They were both clean and yes rustic. However it is close to almost everything and right on the lake. It really was quiet. The owners are great.

For the price and location, it was luck to find this place. I would recommend the Tawas Inn to anyone. Good place, Good weekend.

We love our trips to East Tawas and staying at the Tawas Inn and Resort. The cabins are located between town and the Point, with town in walking distance and the point a bike ride away.

The cabins are functional; including a full kitchen, living/dining area, bedroom and bathroom. Each one also has access to a grill and picnic table outside.

There is a bonfire every night overlooking the lake, a good place to meet your neighbors if you want. Down at the waterfront there is a private beach, playground, fire pit and deck. The amount of beach down below depends on the lakes water level, but the sand on the upper level makes that rather irrelevant. There are toys and games for the children to use (badminton, sand toys, etc).

We always have such a good time relaxing by the water. Just remember these are cottages so don't expect luxury, but comfort and charm.

A few random notes: There are TVs with cable and spotty Wi-Fi on site. The bathrooms are tiny, but somehow contain a sink, showers and a toilet. The kitchen has dishes, grill utensils are available. I recommend bringing a good knife and cutting board. The host is wonderful and will give you recommendations for eating and things to do.

We have spent time here the past 2 years with our children and grandchildren. The cabins are very clean, affordable, and have everything you need....dishes, linens, grill, picnic table, cable tv, air conditioning, wifi....and if you needed something that wasn't there, I'm sure the owners would get it for you. They are very nice, are always around, and always ask if you need anything. There is a beach and swimming area and playground. There is a bonfire every night. Our family has really enjoyed our time here.

The bed was very firm. If your husband benefits from a firm mattress then I would stay. We had a tub in our cabin and I'm not sure if they have walk in showers in the other cabins or not. I would give them a call. They are very friendly people.
