Once you get use to the smell of musty and old it's pretty good place. Good location, relaxing, nice beach area. Fully stocked kitchen down to the toothpicks! Will defiantly stay there next year. Close to town but far enough away for piece and quit

The owner was friendly and nice and the place had a beautiful view. It was a good location as well. It does have a musty old smell but my main complaint is that the bed and couch were awful!! I had a terrible night of no sleep and therefore my 1 night get away to get some rest and relaxation was thwarted. I really advise that they get new beds and couches that have some support. Due to the bed and couch situation unfortunately I will not be back.

There are 6 cottages, all with old rustic charm. Some maintenance updates do need to be made to the outsides of the buildings. There is a lot of wood rot. Inside is maintained a little better. It is obvious a repair was made to the ceiling of the cabin I stayed in, but they didn't bother to paint the new drywall that was put in.
On the positive side, you don't need to pack as much when you go "camping" here. The cabins have 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. Pillows and bedding included. The kitchens have plates, cups and cookware for you to use as well. Nothing matches, but then, you're camping, what can you expect.
The view of the lake is spectacular, and they have built an amazing patio with enough room for guests in all 6 cabins to enjoy the view in the morning or evening. They do have water access for swimming, but it is no larger than a boat launch space.
They do make the accommodations entertaining for kids by having a sandy playground which includes a swing, slide, volley ball net and they have a basketball hoop with several balls readily available to guests.
The owners are extremely nice. They will even let you borrow and air compressor to blow up water toys. This is a blessing for parents with children.

Room Tip: You can get a great view from Cabin 2 and 5, don't pay the higher price for cabins 3 and 4....

The cottage was very much in need of updating....the bathroom was extremely SMALL, had a floor that seemed like it was going to break at any moment. The space where the toilet was is 16" wide....glad we aren't overweight. Shower stall was extremely small. The water dripped continuously.
The bottom of walls and trim appear to be rotting (maybe were wet at one time). The outlet by the microwave and coffee maker didn't work. Had to move the coffeemaker over by another outlet.
The couch was very worn out and not comfortable.
The light fixtures seemed to have very low wattage bulbs in them. Pretty dark in there. One bedroom had two tiny mirrors hung up high....not functional. The mirror on the outside of the bathroom door was the only one for putting on makeup or fixing hair. NOT very convenient, when people could walk by and see right in there.
The beach area was very small.

On a positive note:
The place was clean.
The deck over Lake Huron was very nice. (The swing does need to be firmed up or replaced. Seems to be very weak)
We enjoyed the view and relaxing.
The owners were helpful and friendly.

This is a wonderful place to stay, especially if you have a family. The cabins are CLEAN, cute and cozy. The kitchens are stocked with cookwear & everything else you need, and plenty of fun for the kids, too. Owners are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: These cabins are north of town, about 3 miles, so they're nice & quiet and not a bunch of people...

A group of friends have rented all six cottages every June and sometimes October for many years. The property is great. Right on the beach, which a bonfire pit, a massive deck that provides great sunbathing. The cabins themselves are a good size and easily accommodate 4 adults. The only thing to be forewarned is that the bathrooms in all but two of the cottages are extremely tiny. I recommend Cabins 1 and 2 as they have the best bathrooms, although they are the furthest from the water. The only other problem was the beds in Cabin 1. They were very old and very very uncomfortable. I'm hoping that they have replaced them this year, but if not, if you're in Cabin 1, you might consider bringing an air mattress. The rest of the beds in all the other cabins are great. The owners are super accommodating and friendly.
