Nice little playground for the kids with 2 slides for bigger kids and 2 for younger kids. Big track to walk or run around with a field in the center. Bathrooms and water fountain. 1 covered table to eat at.
This is a lovely park. The roads were somewhat narrow and the sites were hard to get into because of all the large shade trees. The bathrooms/showers are individual rooms instead of being one large bathroom with shower curtains, so that was a definite plus!...More
We stopped on our way to Mackinac. The campground is very tight. Large rigs will have difficulty getting into some spots. It was even tight just driving to our site with the narrow roads and parked trucks etc.
Park was beautiful. The beach was very...More
I chose this park specifically to be near Lake Huron, as I have always camped along Lake Michigan's shoreline and this place was great! If you're on top of the reservation timeline you could get a site literally ON the beach, or get lucky with...More
We were traveling through Michigan with our dogs and kids and wanted a dog-friendly campground on the water. We chose this specifically because of the dog beach, and because we hadn't been to Lake Huron before. It is crowded--but electric sites meant we weren't blown...More

As far as what to bring (sorry didn't see that part at first), your typical camping gear. We actually travel with another couple that has all the "stuff", so we just bring out tent, sleeping items, chairs and food. Each site as a picnic table and a nice fire ring. You can get wood there. It's 6 dollars Afro a small bundle. We got ours just outside the park. Someone was a selling by there home. 3 large bundles for $10. If you can, go that route. Many people had bikes. The beach is nice, so bring items to hang out there. The town is just a short walk. There's not a lot to do there. We walked to the harbor, went into a couple stores, then the guys hung out at a sports bar while we got ice cream and went to the Moose Store, which is right on US 23. We broke camp on a Sunday, so we went back to the Sport's bar for breakfast so we wouldn't have to deal with the cooking mess. You might want to bring some cards or other games. We just usually talked around the fire. I hope this helps and that you have fun!
