We arrived there for our first day in Nicaragua with my wife our 14yr old son and our daughter with a freshly broken foot. The staff was amazing. The room was cool and quiet (ground floor back three beds) the pool was as wonderful as the photos. It was really an amazing little place and we met some friendly other travelers that gave us some good info for the rest of the trip. Oh Yeah - very helpful laid back staff.

Our absolute favourite city hotel on our trip through Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Simple but spacious room with a king bed and 2 singles, easy access from room to the courtyard pool so we could keep an eye on the kids, and low-key restaurant where we ate breakfast. A lovely retreat from the hustle of the city.

We stayed here for two nights with our two children (9 and 11). Its a sweet little oasis hidden among tightly condensed buildings in downtown Léon. The seating and porch swing around the pool give you a great place to wind down before bed. The breakfast choices are more than most places offer, all very tasty! The tour company they work with is amazing!!! Small group tours with multi-lingual guides! We had friends that went with outside tour groups and ended up with 30+ in their group...no fun! We sand boarded down Cerro Negro and had wonderful conversation with our guides. We went to the museum of Heroes in the city center to learn about the country’s civil war from a living war veteran!! A life changing experience... Léon is truly a beautiful and unapologetic city, refusing to become a touristic cliche, which is so refreshing! If you want authentic Nicaragua, please spend a couple of days in this amazing city!

Hotel is small and charming. Cool and hip. Pool is awesome. Well located, breakfast included friendly staff. Downside is the glass French doors do not provide sufficient sound insulation so I had some stupid neighbors who decided to have a ladies 6:30 am convesertation outside our room on the hanging chaise lounge. Really annoying. Had to literally open to door and ask them in a cynical way to shut up people are trying to get some sleep here. Rooms at least nine was small but nice and sufficient for our needs. Only stayed one night Leon is a very dirty city with no decent sidewalks to walk on. Not much to do there.

Dear Guest We thank you very much for your comments of your experience in your stay with us. Sorry for the noise from the other guests so early. León is a beautiful city, the second most tourist city in Nicaragua, besides having the Cathedral of León "World Heritage" declared by UNESCO, we have the third most important beach in the pacific of Nicaragua, only 20 minutes from the hotel. Las Peñitas-Poneloya, in this place you can visit Juan Venado Island where you can appreciate the 3 types of Mangroves (Red, Black and White). Also in Leon is the Cerro Negro Volcano where you can practice an extreme sport "Volcano Boarding". The city is a city known for its poets the most important "Poet Ruben Dario", the most important museum is in León Nicaragua, just 3 minutes from our Hotel. We have museums of Art, Museum of the Revolution and museum of myths and Legends and much more. I invite you to come back to León and take another perspective of the city. Happy Holidays.

Everything is tiny here: the rooms, the swimming pool, the hotel as a whole (just 10 rooms). There is a restaurant and bar with good food. We liked the place a lot, you do not hear the street noise while you are staying in the city center.

We had a great experience staying at the Azul hotel. The rooms are a bit tiny, but are all you need, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief after walking the city during the heat of the day. Breakfast was very substantial, with a few different great offerings. I highly recommend the french toast. Even more importantly the staff was amazing! Erick at the front desk helped to arrange a private taxi for us to the border with Costa Rica, which ended up being the quickest way (and to us the most comfortable and best) to get to the border. One of the days, we ended up waiting for about an hour for our tour guide to show up for the walking tour, because they originally sent us a French language guide, and we needed English. This was no fault of the Hotel's, we had heard the front desk person ask for an English guide in the morning, but the Hotel staff still offered us complimentary beers to ease the time. Overall a great experience staying with the Azul Hotel, and I would recommend them.

We stayed here three nights. The room was small but adequate and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also small but just fine with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. I swam in the pool each night, which is a great way to end the day in a hot city like Leon. The rooms are all around the pool - a good layout. The second floor is quieter. We were in #10, which is a corner unit and it was quiet (except that the a/c unit was a little noisy). The hotel is in a great location for seeing the city. The breakfast was very good, and included options such as french toast and waffles, along with eggs, granola, etc.

The rooms are very small but clean. No closet, only 3 wooden pegs to hang your clothes. The included breakfast was very good and they gave you several choices with great coffee. We did have one lunch and one dinner which was excellent. The staff are very friendly and eager to please. Upon arriving, we were told that the A/C did not work but that they could turn it on and off and all we had to do was tell them at the front desk. We were told that it would be repaired in 2 days as they were waiting for the part. The true story we figured out was that the hotel was full with a big group of French tourists and that they didn’t have enough remotes. So for the last two days we finally got a remote. Not the end of the world but was annoying for the first 2 days. The shower is of the electric kind and we managed to operate it quite well. Some reviews mentioned that there was not hot water but it all comes down to how you use it. If too much pressure, the water cannot get heated and if too little then the heater does not activate. It’s a case of getting it just right and being patient. We found that if you turned it about ¼ to 1/3 and waited a few minutes it worked just fine. The pool was very cold. Unfortunately, it never gets much sun so it remains very cold. I was unable to enjoy it at all. The hotel is well located, there are several restaurants right on the street and a short walk down to the main plaza and cathedral. The WiFi was excellent. This was the hotel we spent the least amount of $ on during all our trip, it was only $60 per night and I feel it was reasonable for what we got.

It was adequate...the room and bathroom were quite small. It was probably 15x20 feet at most . Bathroom maybe 4x10. The staff wasn’t particularly friendly. It was centrally located. If we return to Leon I would try a different place. Oh and only street parking with no advice as to where you could safely park.

Dear Guest We greatly appreciate reading your comments, we are very sorry that the staff that attended was not kind, we have already taken action on that. Hotel Azul unfortunately does not have private parking, however, we explain to all our guests that their car is very safe on the street. We have Video-Security and a staff working 24 hours. We can not give advice of a private parking because the city of Leon does not have a public parking. We very much want you to come back, but this time you are our special guest V.I.P We assure you that your experience will be better than the first one. Best Regards
