We have just spent three nights in this superb Chambres D’hote and highly recommend both it and Blaye. Stephane and Christine are wonderful hosts where nothing is too much trouble. Their home is situated a short walk from centre ville and the beautiful citadel but is a haven of tranquility and perfect for relaxation or as a base to explore the area. We had a beautiful private and spacious room with our own terrace and entrance. Our room was well equipped including coffee machine, kettle and mini-fridge. Breakfasts are wonderfully generous and social occasions where guests can mingle and enjoy multi- lingual discussion aided by Stephane and Christine. The swimming pool is perfectly heated with a good supply of loungers, shade and towels. A real home from home in a lovely period French property. Thank you Stephane and Christine for providing us with the perfect spot to relax after the stress of packing up and selling our Maison Secondaire. Lots of love and best wishes Lorraine and Nigel x

After a long cycle and a hot day I was so happy to reach Clos Reault. We had a beautiful bedroom with all in place, decorated beautifully. The gardens and pool area were lovely to relax in. The only minus was we couldn't read the WiFi password on the chalk board but not a deal breaker. Would highly recommend

Superb gem of a place in the lovely town of Blaye. Helena is friendly, welcoming and fun. Accommodation is done to a very high standard with lovely design touches all round. Our accommodation comprised living area, large double bedroom and large bathroom downstairs and our son had an open plan seating area, bedroom and bathroom across the whole upstairs, he liked having his own space separated from Mum & Dad and the Wi-fi met his speed and availability requirements!
Shared pool, hot tub and sauna were well maintained, very clean and had towels available in addition to room towels. You can plug your own music in to listen to in the hot tub, and drinks are available there too.
Breakfast is taken communally in the owners house. Great choice on the buffet and Helena is around to keep your drinks topped up and give local information.
Great for couples and families. Good selection of restaurants and great walks round the town and the citadelle.
Will be back.

My husband surprised me for my birthday by staying at this GORGEOUS chateau. This place is absolutely breathtaking. Wherever you turn, you have stunning decoration with excellent taste! Their garden is gorgeous, all the property is super clean and well taken care of.
In addition, the owners are adorable! I can't be more thankful for making my birthday so special. :)
We were only staying one night but I was so in love that we decided to stay a second one.
Their breakfast is EXCELLENT. We were spoiled with organic yogurts, cereal, fruit, bakeries, jam, delicious juice, eggs and fresh brewed coffee!
Our room was also perfect! The shower is enormous and the bed comfy and cozy.
They have fruit trees all around and is a perfect venue for a romantic weekend getaway.
The cherry on top, they have sauna and jacuzzi! (And a tea maker in case you want to relax while enjoying the sauna). And of course the pool with lounge chairs. They provide you with bathrobes and towels for the pool... In the room you have hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo, soap, coffee machine and all the commodities you need for a perfect holiday. Love love love all the details!

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it is difficult to find fault with this little oasis close to the town centre. Welcoming host full of information and advice about the area. The host speaks excellent English. Room was very comfortable with tea/coffee and bottled water available. Town centre is a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast was excellent in such a lovely room. We didn't need lunch as the breakfast was so varied and filling. Overall a great experience and whilst it may seem a bit pricey, it is worth every penny. We would happily return and also would recommend others to stay here.

We stopped here on our way home from our Daughter's Wedding in Vilamoura. We had taken a week travelling thru' France and Spain and thence to Portugal with pre-planned accommodation throughout, followed by 10 days in Portugal. After the Wedding we had 8 days to meander back to UK and we purposely did not plan or advance book any Hotels, just aiming to chill and relax.
We reached the Bordeaux area with 3 more days to go before we needed to be home. I looked on Trip Advisor whilst in the car just south of Bordeaux and googled 'Interesting villages near Bordeaux'. I plumped for Blaye, as it was situated not too far off of our direct route towards the Cannel Ports and I thought the Citadel would appeal to my Husband's love of history. I looked at TA's list of Hotels and none really appealed and then upon dropping down to 'Other accommodation' Clos Reaud de la Citadelle; the photos, reviews and position just grabbed my interest and I booked online whilst being 40 minutes away.
Wow, what a great decision. From the moment we were greeted on the drive by the owner Helene, upon arrival, guided to our parking space, given a guided tour of our immaculate, tasteful, huge, homely and thoughtfully equipped Suite thru' to when we left 48 hours later (yes, we stayed 2 nights), everything was seamless and every detail, personal and thoughtful.
Our room was stunning; the bed was enormously comfy, great linen, plenty of towels, hairdryer and even diffuser provided. There was a tea and coffee machine in the room, together with complimentary water and chocolates. We truly felt as if we were in our own home, which was a real bonus after a month of Hotel accommodation.
Breakfast was served in the Dining Room of the Chateau (which incidentally had been renovated in its entirety by Helene's Husband Fernando). Breakfast was an ample Continental spread with a choice of eggs included. It was an added and unexpected bonus to be able to chat with other guests about our travels, Countries and recommendations in several languages whilst at Breakfast. We all left as Friends.
There is a jacuzzi and sauna available for guests, dressing gowns are standard in the rooms. The grounds are ample and rustic and a large swimming pool and loungers sit amidst delightful rustic cottage gardens.
We walked to the Citadel on the first evening, to a Restaurant (inside the walls of the Citadel) recommended and booked for us by Helene. We had a couple of cocktails in a beautiful setting overlooking La Gironde Estuary, watching the sunset, followed by an excellent meal. My Husband and I were so chilled at this point that we decided there and then that we couldn't leave this beautiful, relaxed bit of heaven so soon. I emailed Helene from the Citadel and asked if our room was available for the next night too and once she had confirmed, I booked a ferry from Caen to Portsmouth, to make up the time lost by staying put in the gorgeous Clos Reaud de la Citadelle for another night! The Internet can be brilliant sometimes. In my email to Helene, I cheekily asked if she could personally recommend a Vineyard to visit the next day.
The next day, at breakfast, Helene confirmed that she had fixed us up with a private tour of a nearby Vineyard - Roland La Garde. This tour was a personal one and was a great experience and we made friends with the owners of this Vineyard.
We will be returning to Blaye later in the year with some friends, touring some more Vineyards and definitely staying at Clos Reaud de la Citadelle.
We travel every month and throughout the world and I have no hesitation in recommending this place as one of my favourite accommodations of all time!

A very warm welcome and a most enjoyable and comfortable stay at this family hotel. Rooms are very tastefully decorated, spacious and the hotel itself is at a good location close to center of Blaye. Our host Helena made every effort to make us feel welcome. Breakfast is lovely at a shared table and by the big fireplace. Hotel has a lot to offer with outside pool, spa and a beautiful rustic garden.

If you are looking for a luxury b&b look no further, what an amazing establishment the owners have made. From a tumble down barn and house to an amazing, luxury bed and breakfast with extra little luxuries making it an outstanding place to stay. They have thought of everything, and more throughout the entire b&b, we booked the suite and wish we could have stayed there much much longer. There is a swimming pool, a sauna and a hot tub, all great to use after a hard days travelling. The owners are delightful, so happy, welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast is a feast. Anything that you could wish for, including fresh eggs from their own chickens, and freshly picked grapes. We will definitely book to stay there again and can't wait for our next trip. Merci Madame et Monsieur pour nous avoir permis de partager votre belle maison.

Fantastic stay. We were blown away by the room we stayed in - stone-walled, amazing decor, most comfortable bed ever, and just 10 steps from the swimming pool. It was a hidden gem. And the hosts were fantastic. Thank you again for a memorable stay.
