We stayed overnight and loved the position of this charming hotel in the centre of a small village, not far from Tours, on our way to the Ile de Re. The room was very spacious on the ground floor of the Maison de Maitre across the small road from the restaurant part of the hotel, overlooking a sweet garden. Mercifully,...

This was our second time to this gem of a place and we will go back again. We have also recommended this to friends who were equally impressed. Why? On the face of it, we should warn you off: The accommodation is separated from the reception/dining/breakfast bit by a busy road. Adjacent is a church with bells that can raise...

We booked an overnight stay here on our way to south west France after reading such good reviews. We had a de-luxe room in the adjacent building which was a substantial property of the 'maison de maitre' type. Our room was downstairs in the front, overlooking the little garden and was large and comfortable. Our double bed was in fact two singles put...

Well I'm so glad I read the reviews on this hotel on Tripadvisor, and I can also see why the hotel proudly displays their Tripadvisor sticker. What a fantastic place in a very rural location. Super, comfortable, clean bedroom, couldn't ask for anything more. The one thing that sold me this hotel was the continual praise for the quality of...

Hi, my wife and I booked this hotel on our journey south from Cherbourg to Toulouse mainly due to its location and the recommendations of 'most' Tripadvisor reviews. We allowed for the fact, as we normally do, that you are always going to get reviews from some people who will never be satisfied with an establishment such as this but...

Stayed for three nights recently. Would thoroughly recommend both hotel and restaurant. We were in a large loft room. Very quiet and comfortable. Excellent shower and bathroom. Breakfast was really good - yummy scrambled eggs. The restaurant was just fantastic - really good food from a large menu. The wine list was amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgable,...

A very good place to break a journey. Excellent food and wine and very good value for money. The rooms across the road are spacious, well-appointed and quiet. The ambience is well judged by the efficient and friendly staff. We enjoyed our two stopovers here very much indeed. Thank you to all concerned

This was a stop off on the way from Portugal to the UK - we are so glad we went here and it is bound to be a favourite from now on. We did not book half board as the menu seemed a little limited and so we opted for the €48 menu. I gave up at the sweet as...

We wanted a hotel in this general area of the Loire region, for 2 nights, and picked this hotel based mainly on its Tripadvisor reviews; we were not disappointed - in fact, just the reverse, it exceeded expectations. The hotel public rooms are in one building, with the majority of the bedrooms in a separate building, which is where we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A few minutes outside Tours, in the Heart of the chateaux of the Loire, La Mère Hamard has made its mark on the village of Semblançay. This house has been here for over a century and has a fascinating history. It is in this place that we suggest you crossing a few hours in our company. We could speak to you for a long time in writing about our passion for all which titillates papillae. But we shall not make him: nothing replaces the experience of the plate and that of the glass, which we hope for it will be for your taste. All our products are home-made from fresh products, selected strictly. We attach a particular choice to the origin of products, which we prefer of season and picking. Best Regards, Alice et Olivier Loize. ... more   less
