Lovely hotel, centrally located. Clean and spacious rooms overlooking the Castle. Well laid out breakfast. Personally, i wou have liked a kettle or coffee machine in the bedroom. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Will gladly return and reccomend this hotel.
We stayed overnight at the end of September so the hotel was fairly quiet. Nonetheless we were surprised that there seemd to be just one (very pleasant) lady doing everything from reception to cleaning to breakfast service! Our room (a superior double) was very comfortable and attractively furnished in neutral tones and natural fabrics - very New England style. Unusually for France there was a full sized bath although this meant that it was a little awkward using the over bath shower. There was no grab handle so if you have mobility issues you might want to check out the arrangements beforehand. Also unusually for France, there was a kettle and tea cups with herbal teas. Some reviewers seem to have had a problem with the price of breakfast. We booked via booking.com and it was quite clear that breakfast was extra and 10 euros a head. If you only want a coffee and croissant then yes, this is a bit steep. However, there was plenty to eat from cheese and ham, to cereals, fruit and yoghurt plus pancakes with salted caramel sauce. The fruit juice and coffee was good. The breakfast area is pleasant and overlooks the pool area and we actually felt that we had good value. Overall this was an attractive no fuss place to stay for independent travellers.…
Small and well appointed hotel with great service. Staff are attentive and very helpful. Pool is great. Breakfast is good and tasty, no hot options. Rooms are clean. No air conditioning (at least not in ours), so it can get got during summer. Would go back.
The weather was warm so our rooms were (too) hot and the pool was bliss. Pricey but good breakfast: Try the crêpes with caramel! There's no hotel parking but we managed to find a space after driving around the castle three or four times. August is a busy time in France. You can stop in front of the reception to offload luggage if necessary. The location is excellent.
We had a pretty room overlooking the terrace and the chateau. We didn't take breakfast at the hotel as it wasn't included and was overpriced. Very difficult to get free Wifi. Service was at best perfunctory and information was poor - we were only told about the swimming pool when checking out.
A lovely hotel on a wonderful island. We stayed in room 104 which has a balcony overlooking the pool, quite a sun trap.the rooms are ensuite with bath and shower. Quite basic but tastefully decorated. The hotel is only a 2 minute walk into the town, but there are many restaurants within a stones throw. The staff are very pleasant and helpfull. On the down side there is no on site parking but you can usually find a space around the chateau if sometimes you have to do a couple of laps until a space becomes available.
Stayed for two nights with the family ( 2 adults and two young girls ) during the Bastille celebrations. The location is amazing, the pool is great and safe for a young family ( clearly recently developed and a good improvement) The rooms need some work for them to really work for families. For example the lack of safety catches on the Windows . The bathroom falls into this category with a very poor shower and a wonky toilet seat! The shear lack of drying facilities is also a bit of a nightmare. The rooms need work... Saying that we had a great few days using the free buses to the beach , great restaurants .. You must try the oysters at the bar/ restaurant onze on the harbour wall ... Absolutely fab( best ever) The owner didn't speak any English not a major issue , though I thought this was a hindrance for a hotel in a tourist location. Final point - fireworks were great on the harbour wall on Bastille! …
Stayed here early July. Very good location, with free car park around the chateau (if you are lucky - probably more difficult to find in August I guess). The rooms are bright and clean, very comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful, we particularly liked the pancakes with home-made salted caramel!. The bikes they rent are really good, at a competitive price. We also made good use of the pool as the wind was so cold on the beach! The owner is really friendly and helpful. Will go again!
The hotel is at a nice location, DIRECTLY next to the Chateau, yet only minutes away from the town center. The breakfast is good, and the host family is friendly. Pool and bicycle rental on site. Parking you can to find around the Chateau or towards the harbor nearby.
As a surprise birthday break this was quite an eye opening experience. My wonderfully organised partner had booked online some time in advance, however, experiencing difficulties with the online payment he called to confirm the booking & spoke to a gentleman called Vincent who emailed written confirmation by reply and stated payment on check out was fine. Two weeks prior to our visit he called and emailed again just to make sure, he received no reply. Upon arrival to the hotel we were met with an extremely rude reception from new management who did not speak English... After the cleaner kindly translated our poor French we were told that she did have a room for us for two nights, not the three that we booked as she was double booked on the last night of our stay. She said that the booking online was wrong and refused to accept our email proof of the confirmed dates. Long story short they "found" a room in another hotel in the town for us and assured us they had come to an agreement with them to charge the room at the same rates. Our room was extremely small and not finished to a terribly high standard, wifi didn't work and there was no aircon. Breakfast was good, however we booked bed and breakfast, needless to say as other reviewers have found, breakfast was an added extra at check out! And it's not cheap!!! €18 for two. The support hotel they found for our last night was a lot more expensive and they had blatantly lied about securing agreeable rates. The whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths. The new management lady is a mum and clearly she is inexperienced at this kind of operation, she did not once seem apologetic for her errors or even friendly. She frowned morning noon and night. If you buy a business clearly you buy the responsibility to honour previous bookings and handle any mistakes as professionally as possible. Style over substance and we would never return to such a hostile environment or catalogue of errors.…
