I am always a bit leary about staying in a motel that is an unknown quantity. Such was this motel. I had read the reviews so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. It is easy to see that this motel has been here a while. It is near Portage and Bear Lakes and houses workers in the area, fisherman, and folks just needing a bed like me. The rooms are large but the beds and furnishings are pretty old. The beds were ok but I wouldn't say they were comfortable. My wife and I had a quiet night and a good sleep. I'd stay here again if I was in the area.
This is a really nice motel !!!! we stayed here on august 18th and really enjoyed our stay !! The rooms are clean , the beds are comfy the pillows werent all flat and squishy like most places we have stayed they were real nice pillows ,the towels werent scratchy they were soft and thick (not your typical hotel towel ) . there was a coffeemaker and nice cold mini frig in the room . They have shower doors instead of shower curtains which was a plus . The staff was very helpful and friendly . The breakfast was good they had a nice variety of pancakes, biscuits and gravy , fresh fruit , yogurt parfaits , Danish, and a few different kinds of cereal , Nice clean outdoor pool , picnic area with a grill , play area for kids with swings and stuff also putt putt golf area , and they have a nice big parking lot that can accommodate trailers and boats or snowmobiles and it's in a very quiet area of town which was nice you dont hear the road traffic . If your looking for a reasonable clean place to stay I highly recommend this place . We will be going back forsure !! …
Stayed here two nights with a group of senior friends spread out among 5 rooms. My room was huge, plenty of space. Refrigerator and microwave were nice. Separate sinks in bathroom and bedroom. Nice flat screen TV. The only issue we had was that the listing says free DELUXE continental breakfast. When we got there, there was NO breakfast at all, just coffee and by the way the office doesn't open until 8 am so if you wake up early, they aren't open before 8. We were all disappointed in the "no breakfast" because we would have been happy with sweet rolls or bagels. They said it was too early in the season for breakfast. They are very nice and rooms are clean, so if you don't care about breakfast, this is a nice place offering a good deal.
The room looked clean and the folks in the office were very nice. BUT, there was a strong odor in the room that was very unpleasant. The air conditioner whenever it kicked on was pretty loud and the mattress was very soft. We were too tired after a long day to complain and make a fuss. But we wont be back.
We have stayed here several times, once very last minute. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, including any requests. We've always found the rooms clean and 99% of things working well. We enjoyed being temporary neighbors to farmland; we've heard a rooster now and then when we're outside or by an open window, nothing that disturbs the quiet or sleep. Peaceful. Rooms are all of the same general format, two queen beds, small round table with lamp, two chairs, dresser, TV (limited), open rack/hanging for clothes, bathroom has a tub/shower, sink, toilet, two lighting options, room has a sink/counter next to the bathroom, plus a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. The outlet by the round table and window is wall switch controlled - if you wish to power/charge electronics left on the round table, leave the wall switch on, operate the lamp by its own switch.…
