I booked a room here solely based on the private beach access claim. I was disappointed to discover that the beach couldn't be accessed from the property. There was a grassy pond in the way. There was no way we wanted to wade or swim through that to get to the beach. Oscoda beach was close enough to drive to though. There's an indoor pool in the hotel so that was alright. There was also a playground for kids, outdoor seating area, and fire pits which I thought were awesome. There was no tv remote but it wasn't a major issue, as we were out at the beach and sightseeing until bedtime. We'd probably stay here again.

Terrible bed. Very tired hotel and rooms. Staff tries very hard to make it all work. They said they will be doing renovations in the off season. Cold breakfast available. Big beach with access to Lake Huron. Shower worked fine. Hotel does smell a bit off.

This place is typical for the area. It’s old, musty, and dated. The room smelled moldy. The curtains wouldn’t close all the way and the hotel is covered in bright LED lights so it was hard to sleep. We found a pair of dirty underwear in our bathroom- gross!

The property is on a beautiful plot of land right on the lake. Staff is friendly. Definitely would not stay here again.

When i went to check in, the young lady was on the phone a full 10 min answering questions from someone wanting to know about the hotel, I had someone come in after me, and the woman said she had to get the manager if there was a rush on check ins. 2 people a rush? Went to my room down by the pool (asked for a quiet room), there was such a smell of marijuana in the hallway by the pool, I could easily have gotten a contact high. Management knew of the smell, because she came by later to pass out "whats for breakfast" forms (which i didnt get). At 7:30 that night, I was going to get in the shower when I hear keys jingling and my room door opens and I grabbed a towel. He said he was the GM and wanted to know why someone was in the room. (He was at the front desk when i checked in and requested a second night). No knock, no apology. The second night I had someone bang on my room door and run down the hallway. I had someone knock on my door at 10:30 and I didnt asked what they wanted I heard "my bad, i have the wrong room". Oh the room where the pot smell was coming from had a fan pointed out toward the parking lot with the window open. But I had to initial as to their no smoking policy when I checked in... I didnt feel safe Saturday night and regretted staying an extra night, but there were no vacancies elsewhere. Overpriced for what is offered. Oh, young boys were also throwing beer cans out of their windows Saturday night, called front desk and was put on hold for 15 min.

Booked 10 rooms on August 3rd for a trip September 17-19th, 2021. Told Sheila and Zack (Manager), that each individual would call with our group name to rebook with their credit card. I called and said they could release the rooms not used. I didn’t even stay there, but stayed at a friends in town. On Sunday afternoon I received 5 messages from my bank stating that the hotel billed me for 5 rooms. We used 8 of the 10. I immediately called the hotel and received zero help on the situation. My friends who stayed there had nightmare experiences with dirty rooms, not able to contact the front desk, and went down to find out the front desk person was outside around the corner smoking. Asked for additional pillows and was told there were none. Sand in the bed, that was just checked into. No sheet on the bed, and after several attempts, someone opened the door and threw one in the room. Dirty grounds, hallways and rooms! Several phone calls to try and rectify the issue and was told that the manager is out due to having a baby and no one there could help. This is a nightmare with now a legal
Issue and trying to work through a dispute with my bank!

My family as a whole has been coming here for 19 years. This is the last time I will ever pull into this place again. My 1st room was absolutely disgusting. There was pop or something sticky all over the TV screen, food on the lamp base, dust thick enough I wrote "hello" and the smell of mildew was overwhelming we walked out. So we got another room that we thought would be better. To get into the new room the door sticks so you have to use your shoulder and ram it several times to open it. Food on the outside of the mini fridge and some kind of dirt and food finger marks on the bed sheets so we had to get another set of sheets. We also has to spray cologne in the heating/air unit because it smelled like burning plastic.
Not one time upon check in was we told that the hot tub wasn't working correctly, the spa was locked up and the floor grate in the hot tub was off. My husband went to look for someone to turn on the jets after I went into the hot tub. Nothing was happening but a small tricle of air coming out that barely was moving any water. The water was lukewarm at best not far off of the temp of the pool. I noticed the floor grate was off leaving a huge opening in the floor. This seriously could easily break someone's ankle if they wasn't playing attention when entering down on the left side of the stairs.
At this point I went to the front desk to ask what was going on. With paying almost $200 a night for 2 double beds, I expected more for my money. I was told it (hot tub) has been broken since September 2021 and they couldn't get the part to fix the hot tub. I also inform the desk clerk about the problems with the room door. And since the ice machine was broken was there a way to get some ice? Ahhh.. no. This was all within less than 2 hrs of checking in. Unfortunately for us we was 2 hrs from home and everything within 60 miles was booked. But lucky for us, the manager should be in sometime tomorrow. Not one time was the desk clerk surprised about anything I said or the other people complaining as well. Not even an offer of a discount or refund if we checked right back out.
This is the worst stay my family has experienced here and I personally would rather sleep in my car.

this hotel is very over priced. they do not clean the rooms for stay-overs, the safety-chain on the door is broken, neither bed lamp switch works, and you have to unscrew the bulb to turn them off, the refrigerator was dirty, and when we complained, housekeeping said the garbage in the freezer could not be cleaned with out defrosting, so she did nothing. The TV was new, but no one could figure out how it worked for the first several hours, by then the battery's were dead in the remote,

We spent a few days at Oscoda Lakeside Hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is under new management, and the new owners were cleaning, painting and fixing everything up. It was much nicer, and felt safer than it did a year ago. Our room was clean, it had a hot tub, and it was reasonably priced. We will be back!

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. We reserved a room, got there after 3 hours of driving only to have hotel front desk staff tell us our reservation had been cancelled by a manager. We never received any phone call, email or notification of any kind. Worst customer service of any hotel I’ve ever been to. Luckily the Blue Horizon Resort had a cabin available and were super friendly and helpful. If you’re staying in Oscoda I would 100% recommend Blue Horizon over this place.

My wife and I were very disappointed and left within 10 minutes of getting to our room. We respectfully went through proper channels to request a refund and was denied because management deemed it cosmetic. So please stay here at your own risk. I have photo proof of everything, and will be using my resources to follow up with a few other state and local entities in regards to the safety concerns. Below is a list of issues found, 1 thing was would be classified as cosmetic.
1. Smoke detector not functional and battery out.
2. Phone didn't work.
3. Bed was dirty, mattress had stains and no mattress cover.
4. The freezer had standing water inside.
5. The dust / carpet smelling like wet dog was very bad and was causing my wife breathing issues.
6. The bathroom mirror was unsafe(top of mirror needs new clip)
7. The door stop was broken on the wall.
8. Possible mildew/mold on window ledge.
