We had an amazing relaxing vacation at this KOA. The owners are very friendly, and they offered great tips of places to visit in the area. Our Huskies love it here too! I always love a campground that will let our quiet huskies just lay outside all day people watching. It is what they love to do. I am a techy, and I have to say they have one of the best Wifi systems I have ever seen at a campground. I was able to Zoom from the picnic table for work for a work meeting with no issues at all. Great way to stay connected when you need to work from the road. I am currently getting a 40 meg connection on their wifi which is great for a campground! We will certainly be back. Thank you for hosting us! The train has come by once a day around 9:00 p.m. It was interesting to see it come through while setting at the campfire. Where we live there are no more trains. Great way to take you back in time.

This is a destination KOA. It must be well known in Michigan because the campground was full the weekend we were there. We were in site 53, back in, 30 amp. Loved it! These sites are by the marsh. We couldn't see the marsh due to vegetation, but we could hear the birds. Buggy, but it's summer. Don't be afraid of the train tracks. The train doesn't run on the weekend & on the weekdays we only heard it twice. Clean restrooms/showers. There's a small pool & playground for the kids.
This is a great base camp for the area. Don't miss River Road! There's also Oscoda Beach Park if you want to take a dip in Lake Huron.

Great stay great location next to every thing on the west side of Michigan. Owners super friendly and helpful, made accommodations for our tow behind trailer to park so we could have full use of our sight. Campground and camp sights were not packed in tight plenty of room between sights. All clean and well maintained, can't say enough about this Campground.

Based on the reviews, I was really disappointed with the campground. I debated giving it a 2 instead of a 3. It did have some good points - the owners/employees were nice, restrooms were clean, and the rustic cabin was cool. They also have decent wifi which is always a huge plus. Kids liked the bounce pillow. BUT the rustic cabins sit about 6 feet from a huge swamp. Since it was warm and humid, we got eaten alive. We didn't want to be at our campsite if we weren't in the cabin. We spent most of our time on the other side of the campground and took all our food over there to eat, etc. The train tracks run right along the campground and a train comes by twice a night to rattle and wake you up and scare the dog. Speaking of the dog - this really upset me. When you make the reservation, you state if you are bring a pet and how many. Then they give you a price. When you arrive, they charge you an extra $10/day per dog. I thought this was pretty slimy. You also aren't supposed to bring your own wood, so they give you ridiculously small bundles of wood for $6. I suggest stopping at any of the tons of places selling firewood along the way because you'll get 3-4x as much wood for the price. They have a game room, which doesn't smell the greatest, and the prices are ridiculous except for pool ($1/game). Seems like pretty much everything in there was $1 for old games.

We were really looking forward to visiting this KOA. Sites are sandy, dead trees and not very level for their patio sites or really any sites that we seen. Right after we arrived a guest came to visit us at the campground and he forgot his wallet at home. There is a $5.00 guest fee, which we had no problem with at all and the Staff escorted him on his motorcycle to our site but let me tell you they acted like we owed them $5000! My husband left the following day to go on a motorcycle ride, which he has a gold wing and it’s not loud at all, he was stopped leaving and told they don’t allow motorcycles. The guy was nice about it but told him to stop at the office on his way in. We understand loud noisy bikes, we don’t care for them ourselves but they were coasting back into the campground to have dinner with us and one guest turned around and left. Very confused because this park promotes that ATV’,side by sides can ride right from their park to the trail head!! So which is it? We are very responsible, respectful people but the final straw for me was I had already booked this same campground for a couple weeks out prior to coming and realizing after we were here there was no way to make it in the site that I paid 25.00 extra to pick because of the trees. I stopped by the office to ask what other sites were available to pick from and I was told by the unfriendly lady in the office that she would make a note and if I can’t get in there they would look at it before I get there. Well I know my coach, I know I’m not making the right hand turn in there because of the trees and there were several more sites available for those dates and your going to leave a note and you can’t provide me with any choices while I am here?? Well no problem, cancelled and won’t be back.

Hi, Kimberly. We were trying to look forward to your visit to our KOA as well. Unfortunately, we were concerned about it because your history with our campground is such that you had reserved and canceled with our park for at least the last 3 years in a row. In 2021 your reservation was logged as a no-show. In 2022 your husband called to cancel the day before you were due to arrive for the fourth of July. We were then hesitant to allow your reservation this year. However we were willing to let your threats be in the past and start over with this year's reservation. The guest that you had, was condescending and verbally abusive to our staff when he arrived. We escorted him to your site as we do with every guest. He didn't return to our office with payment and to register as a guest at the park as he said he would. We hope that you find another park that meets your needs and that the rest of your camping experiences are exactly what you'd hoped for. We wish you the best of luck in all of your future camping journeys.

It makes me very sad to write this because a few years ago I had a very pleasant stay here, however this time not so much. Now I am not sure if ownership has lost their way or if owners changed hands but the behavior of management/ownership that I experienced over this past 4th of July weekend cannot go unnoticed! It all started when they decided to ignore my sisters request to be next to the rest of the group mind you my sister is 6 months pregnant and they put her on the other side of the park. Now the site next to me was open at the time but they said it was requested as well, which upon asking the group next to us that turned out to be a lie! Now they did admit to making this mistake but would not do anything to accommodate and ultimately said you can leave or deal with your spot and shut the window in my sisters face displaying the maturity level of my 6 yr old nephew (this was one of the owners mind you). We were not the only group that had this issue either but it seemed because others were complaining as well. They also drove up on the golf carts and scolded us for being “to loud” right when the clock stuck 11:01 now keep in mind we’re are adults with children in our group so it’s not like we were running some frat party, most of us were so tired from the sun you could pry hear the mice crawling around which is why it was so comical they wanted to harass us so much! There was one gentleman by the name of Rick who was very nice and even gave us some pointers on where to go in town for good beach front (good job Rick)! My favorite line of the weekend was “don’t report me to the health department” for us having 11 ppl across 4 sites which is well within their own rules! This is not about the mistakes that were made for I know mistakes happen. But how they were handled is what is so appalling to me. They won’t get by much longer charging premium price for penny customer service. I am by no means a “Karen “ but this experience was too ridiculous not to share!

Hi Stuart, as I mentioned in Hannah's reply, your group reserved at different times, some by phone, some online. When the group as a whole does not mention one name, you will be split into the groups of the name you mention at the time of your reservation. Your sisters request was not "ignored". Not once did Heidi mention to be near you in her online reservation. She asked for Paul Coulter who never reserved with us (perhaps it was his wife's name on the reservation, but when Michelle reserved online there was no mention of a group at all). Since we cannot know the names of all of your friends and family members and who might be together, it is impossible for us to organize you as a group with out knowing ALL of the information. One of your group members apologized to us for your sisters behavior, and the window was closed due to her aggressive behavior toward us. There was nothing we could say that would help to turn the situation around and she was one comment away from being kicked out of the park. I'm sorry your time here with us was not what it was a few years ago, we are the same owners with the same rules we established in 2007 with the exception of additional precautions we have to take due to covid, and in the midst of trying to get through these uncertain times there are groups like yours that will never understand what that might be like. We wish you the best of camping adventures at parks that might be better suited to your needs.

We reserved and were given one of the premium patio sites, clearly the best in the park. Lots of privacy, and a view that could not be beat. We saw and heard many animals, including Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, and even saw a Coyote in daylight, we heard more from him and his buddies later that night. I'm not sure how often the train passes by, but when it does, at 2:30 am and again about an hour later; you WILL hear it. We did not use the showers, they were dated, but smelled and looked clean. It's near the end of season, so the park was mostly empty and you could see that the sites are gravel, and packed in rather tightly. The entire park looked well cared for and the employees were friendly. They had a nice little store with a variety of items. The cable TV and internet service worked fine. I would stay at this park again, but only if I could once again get that specific site.

Rented the deluxe spot #78 for 6 nights.. Perfect location in the park(bring bug spray or a thermacell though) quiet and hidden away, perfect for COVID.
Pool was very nice and comfortable, never approached the 25 person max.. Bathroom were clean, staff was friendly and nice, even delivered firewood and ice.. Close to everything you want on this side of Michigan. We will be back next time we are in the area..
Also fantastic wifi for people working from "home"

This was my families first time camping so I don't have a point of comparison. Oscoda is beautiful and we had a great time! Would highly recommend Oscoda Beach Park, Largo Springs, and eating at G's Pizzeria! I stayed in a deluxe cabin. The cabin was very nice - no real complaints.
There is air conditioning, a full sized refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The full bath is nice too. The twin bed area is very cramped and is definitely more suited for smaller children. The queen bed wasn't that comfortable. It has a plastic cover over it and it is just really "soft". The couch is another option for sleeping. It was comfortable enough.
As for the outside, I really liked the outdoor swing. There is also a b-cue grill and fire pit. The grounds seemed a tad shabby, i.e. not great grass, but we were camping, right? The heated pool was NOT heated. And the bikes for rent didn't seem to comfortable and more suited for kids. The family rec area had outdated video games like pacman, centipede, etc. There is also a pool table and air hockey table. The outdoor jumping pad seemed fun although my kids didn't use it. The "park" isn't much of one - limited playground items. Only one basketball hoop . . .
Upon checking in, the front staff wasn't that friendly and somewhat subdued. They were much friendlier on the phone when I called prior to my arrival to ask for directions. I did not think that much of it, however. We stayed for three days. Upon checking out, I swept, took out trash, and washed dishes. The only cleaning supplies that was provided was dish soap and broom/dustpan.
We returned the key at around 11:15 a.m. (checkout is 11 a.m.) Around 8 p.m. that same day, I received an email saying that I had left the cabin in a disasterous state and that it took them over four hours to clean which delayed the next family. They had charged my credit card $100 for "damages"! The email stated that they had pictures on file and that I was no longer welcomed back to their campsite.
Well, I emailed asking for the pictures because luckily, I also took pictures of each room before I left and it did not show damage. They didn't respond. I called them and spoke with Jennifer. She was VERY rude and unprofessional. Talked to me like I was some type of low-life. She told me a few of the alleged "damages" and when I kept reiterating that I also had pictures, after about two minutes, she told me that she did not want to talk to me anymore and hung up the phone. I tried to call back but they wouldn't answer the phone and I left a voicemail message. No one called back.
I sent several emails to document the situation. Jennifer eventually responded to my email and listed the "alleged" damages. One of them was that I had left toilet tissue all over the bathroom mirror! Thankfully, I have a date and time-stamped photo to refute that. I sent that to her but of course, she did not respond.
I tried calling one last time and when I did, someone answered and hung up again. I called back and a guy answered. I asked to speak to the manager/supervisor and he said that would be him. I then asked for his name and he told me that I did not need to know his name. When I told him that I am disputing the charge and want to see the pictures, he told me that they would not send me the pictures of the alleged damages. That he would send them to my credit card company and that I could get them from the company. He told me that he did not want to deal with someone who would leave their cabin like that. He said that typically, it only takes about TWENTY minutes to clean a DELUXE cabin and that mine's took over four - unheard of. He said that they did not want to speak to me anymore since my credit card company would side with them.
I also tried to lodge a complaint with KOA corporate but to date, no response. So ultimately, my suggestion is that if you stay in the cabin, take pictures or better yet, have a staff look at the cabin before you return your key! I was just totally floored by the entire experience and it did put a negative slant on my first camping experience! :(
Truly, the only thing that I could think of, in terms of why I was treated like this, is because I am black. I am NOT one to pull the race card but during our entire stay, I did not see any other black people. Some people eyed us on occasion but I travel sometimes to remote areas and have become accustomed to such treatment at times. But the locals were VERY nice so I didn't let some bad vibes that I got from the staff bother me. Truly, I didn't see this coming . . . so again, campers, especially black campers, beware . . .

I am sure the KOA have spaces for the boat or trailer. This camp ground have large land and I would think you shouldn't have any problem. They are very nice people and helpful. It is a beautiful campground and it is way out in the country and it is full of trees.

Hi Linda! We are absolutely pet friendly so feel free to bring the entire family when you come! As far as rates, those do vary depending on site type and dates of arrival. The best thing to do is check our website or give us a call at (989) 739-5115.
"If you don't need hook ups or only 20 amps, stay in the lower section along the non-railroad edge. The train is not a problem, but actually cool to see go by. If traveling with someone, get a buddy site. As for the cabins, go for the ones near the pool and office area."
