At the recommendation of the Oscoda Chamber of Commerce, we phoned the Blue Horizon at the last minute on a Friday afternoon seeking lodging for Friday and Saturday. (We had booked at another Oscoda property but that place was scary dirty and we ran.) Luck was on our side because they had one cabin left, for one night only...we jumped on it because it was a busy weekend and the Blue Horizon is right on the beach. We only needed one bedroom, but they had a 2br available...still less expensive than the place we fled. When I saw our cottage...all the cottages in fact...I couldnt quit smiling. They all had bright flowers in the window boxes, gas grills and sitting areas on the porches. When our cottage door opened, I swear I smelled fresh baked cookies. I saw a glowing knotty pine ceiling and walls, fresh flowers on the table, and swear It smelled like fresh cookies. This was the cleanest cabin I've ever stayed in. Rustic, yes. Kind of like when Lucy and Ricky moved to California. The Blue Horizon is sort of a time warp back to my mid-century childhood. Simple, clean, cozy...It felt like home. Everything you need...the fridge was big and had 2 ice cube trays ready to go and the next two froze in less than an hour. The bed was fine, and I'm pretty fussy. The sheets were bright white and spotless. I couldn't have asked for more, but there was plenty more! Our own gas bbq grill, a little mini golf course, a giant hot tub, a couple of fire pits with Adirondack chairs on the beach, a cuddle swing, and a little beach house with a really cool old Bally pinball machine. Then, it got even better. The owners are so sweet and helpful...they had a cancellation and we got to stay for both nights! I could hear the angels singing! We could not quit smiling and high-fiving about our great luck at finding this great place. All this on top of the most spectacular sunrises made these the best 2 days of our summer. We did not want to leave. We love you, Blue Horizon, and can't wait to come back.

We stayed at Blue Horizon for a few days during June 2012. We only needed a 1 bedroom, but they were all booked up, so the owner (Bob) gave us a 2 bedroom for the same price! Pets are welcome too, which is hard to find in this area.
The beach area was clean, only a few steps from the resort, and overlooks lake Huron which is beautiful.
The accomodations were clean and comfortable, equipped with a full kitchen, cable and internet, and a gas grill outside.
The owners were very friendly, and the guests we met were too. I would recommend the Blue Horizon to anyone who wants a laid back, fun and easygoing vacation.
We will be back!!!

In just got back home from a four day trip in oscoda. We got a two bedroom cabin with only one air conditioner but that was the worst part. I went with a few families and nobody complained about anything! In my cabin alone there was five people... Except the kitchen everything else was quite spacious... My fiance and I are planning to go back in august... Same location and all. P.s dont forget to go out next to the water at night and look up at the sky... Absolutely breathe taking.

After reading the reviews on this motel i booked our stay. Sadly to say it did not live up to the reviews. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms. It was very old and the outside of the hotel needed a power wash badly, full of bugs. We walked through spider webs to get to the room. Once inside the room was very clean. Cannot say that I would stay here again. The people running the hotel were very nice

My husband and I stayed here for one night with 2 Golden Retrievers while traveling Michigan's Sunrise Coast. We enjoyed the huge beach and sitting around the firepit at night. The owners were very friendly and responsive. The carpets had just been cleaned in our room and were still wet when we arrived and we were given a break on the cost of our room. Although on a busy road, our room was closer to the beach. There was a grassy area behind our room where the dogs could relieve themselves. Room had all the basics.

Definitely worth a visit. Angie and crew keep the place clean and ready for their guests. Price is good for a weeks stay. Been coming here for 25 years. Nice sandy and quiet beach. Family and pet friendly. Not to far out of town, close to other attractions.
