Beautiful new hotel with the perfect view of Lake Huron. Note, the queen rooms have the lake view and king rooms do not, or so we were told. Tabitha and the rest of the day and night staff are very nice and quick to help. I was even able to get my mother a shower chair at the front desk which was very helpful. They have four luggage trolleys which is more than some larger hotels we’ve stayed in. We liked how the pillowcases are marked with “soft” and “firm” and the beds were comfortable. We’ve stayed at many hotels and usually the couch beds aren’t very good but this had a better mattress than most. Of course, the hotel is only four months old. The bathroom was spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair. The sink is high though. The breakfast was good and hot. The pancake maker makes them good sized. The bacon was undercooked for our liking but there were plenty of other options. The hard boiled eggs, already peeled and cold, were a nice surprise. The two elevators were efficient. Only one washer and dryer on the bottom floor and takes quarters only but the front desk was able to make change. $2 to wash and $3 to dry at this time.
The area itself is very family friendly. The park directly behind the hotel has an amphitheater that plays summer movie nights on Wednesday and concerts on Thursdays (as of now), a free skateboard park, basketball court, volleyball, and a large playground. The pier is well maintained and has fairly easy access for wheelchairs. The beach is large and great for walks. There’s also a cute, vintage Dairy Queen on the corner a block up that serves walk ups only and was very good.
I’d like to come back to Oscoda and stay at this Holiday Inn Express. Keep up the good work!

Stayed a week during Christmas to see family in town. Very new hotel with mixed emotions from the locals due to its location BUT have no fear, it's a great hotel and the staff are amazing!
All the staff, whether working early mornings, mid day or at 2am we're always pleasant and very friendly. They treat you like a friend or family and could not have been nicer.
The room was extremely large....one of the largest I've stayed in for an average hotel stay. We stayed in a room facing Lake Huron which is the only way to go if you stay here. Even during the winter with it having snowed, the view was great every morning.
Internet was fast. I think each room has its own router. We had a large desk with lamp, couch, coffee table, sitting chair and plenty of room for clothes. Plenty of outlets and USB plugs. Larger size mini frig, microwave and coffee maker. The entry to the room was large and tiled for your wet shoes or sandy things from the beach.
The pool was very nice and clean but smaller than you might be used to however, still a pool. Workout facility was fairly large with amenities. A small business area was close to the front desk with 2 computers and a large conference room. Plenty of seating in the main public areas with tables that had outlets andbolugs in the center. Very well thought out!
Breakfast had the typical things but the service was exceptional. They never let any food items run out making you wish you had got up earlier. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pancakes, etc. The best breakfast views of the beach and lake if you get a seat by the windows.
Several other local families were staying there, which was nice to see, as well as people from across the US where we came in from. Change is good but takes some adjusting to!

This is a new hotel in Oscoda. It is nice to have a nice hotel on Lake Huron. Oscoda is a cute town. I especially liked the Tea Emporium and the coffee shop Sunrise Java, as well as To the Moon and Back (very cute store with unique gifts) within walking distance. Kathy's Hallmark has a lot of interesting items as well.
The hotel is nice (it is new!). The breakfast selection is really good. They have maid service every day. The view of Lake Huron is awesome from my room. The staff are great! I hope they put out patio furniture. It is a very nice patio but no tables and chairs. Also, the pool has no ventilation and the windows do not open and so it is like sitting in a sauna. I could watch the kids swim for maybe 15 minutes because it was so hot humid in the pool area. The beach is wonderful though, but it rained and the kids wanted to swim in the pool and it was just way too hot and humid.
It is really nice to spend time on the beach and then walk the town. Oscoda has 3 ice cream shops within easy walking distance! And the beach has a lot to do: skate boarding, basketball, a wonderful pier, splash pad and great playground equipment.

Worth paying extra for a beautiful view of Lake Huron. Hotel is new. Service was great. Room was great. Right in front of the public beach. Play area for kids, walking pier and wide open beaches. East Tawas 20 minutes south. Alpena 1 hour north. Coffee and ice cream very close by.

I've stayed twice now at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oscoda and have been generally very impressed. The hotel is by far the most modern, up-to-date facility of any kind in the region and I appreciated the tasteful, contemporary decor, spacious rooms and helpful employees who clearly take pride in their work.
A couple of small critiques/suggestions: The breakfast room is exceedingly reliant on styrofoam and plastic - from the plates to the cups and individual food wrappers. For a new hotel, I would hope to see more eco-friendly practices in place. Also, some additional fresh fruit or other healthy food options would be appreciated.
But that said, the lakeside location is very nice and the cafe (Sunrise Kava Cafe) across the street has some terrific lunch and coffee options. I hope the hotel is a boon to Oscoda and continues to thrive.

Brand new hotel on a piece of prime real estate. Clean, and comfortable hotel. Workmanship in the rooms is less than desirable but okay for now. Just wait . . .

The Staff is super friendly and respectful.
Beautiful location and clean. I appreciate the hospitality and the knowledge of the staff. The man i spoke with at the front desk was super helpful and courteous. Thank you for making it an easy choice for a weekend get away.

Stayed at this NEW Holiday Inn Express for business and have to say that it is an amazing hotel. Brand New. Views of Lake Huron are amazing. Can even walk out to the local pier to get an amazing look at the sunrise. Staff was super friendly and recognized me as an IHG Rewards Member. Rooms are clean as they are brand new. Breakfast amazing and the breakfast attendant was so attentive and spoke to me! I want to come back here for pleasure as love this area and love this new hotel
