I was really disappointed in the upkeep of the bathrooms! Bathhouse 1 was really messy. I used the bathroom at 1130 and and used the last of the toilet paper. Took the girls for showers at 8ish and they still hadn’t filled the toilet paper. I went in this morning and the floors were cleaned but they didn’t fill the soap dispenser so you couldn’t properly wash your hands. The water was cold to take a shower. They do come around to pick up your garbage at your campsites which is nice. Not one of my favorites. It was our first time there.

First off, we did NOT have curtains in our cabin. Okay, I get it, in the middle of nowhere. We had to shove blankets and towels in an open window to have privacy.
Secondly, it was very cramped for sleeping 5. Thankfully, it was only the 2 of us. The heater worked great on cold nights, but it made a clicking noise throughout the night.
And then, my sister had to argue about getting a refund back on them coming a day earlier. She had tried calling for weeks and emailed without a response. They said they had a 14 day cancellation policy, and she said she has been trying to contact them. I also had a difficult time earlier with our reservation because I emailed and it was never replied to.
Lastly, you have to PAY to shower. I have been camping my entire life and I have NEVER had to pay “tokens” to shower.

We reserved a site by the water. The views were great! We walked over and they had several small paths to get down to the water with tubes, kayaks, etc. the campground was surprisingly quiet and had plenty of trees. We had a fire going til' 1:00AM and weren't bothered to put it out. The store offers everything you'd need while camping. Their soft serve ice cream was delicious and they had a large section of flavors. We didn't use the restroom, so I can't vouch for that. The staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nearly every square inch of this property is used for camp sites. Packed in like sardines. Reach your had out and you might be able to shake hands with your close neighbor. HORRIBLE! They obviously are trying to squeeze in as many campers, RV's and trailers as humanly possible.
Staff is VERY slow to attend people at the office. Long lines and apathetic attitudes.
One staff member wanted to charge me three times the dump rate because I had on the wrong university t-shirt in his opinion. How arrogant, pitiful!!!!!

I had the worst experience making reservations today. We drove up to make them in person and joined a dozen other people waiting outside for the office to open. We were 5th in line. Everyone talked about the days and sites we wanted and some compromising did go on between us but it worked out fine until the doors opened. A lady came out of no where and walked directly in front of the crowd and took her position at the head of the line. Although she was told there was a line she refused to budge.
The office clerk did not remove her and was very unsympathetic even though the first in line was here at 5:30a.m.! The crowd grew angry and I grew angry at the lack of professionalism from the staff person. I have never ran into someone so nervy in my life. The rude lady( scumbag) got her reservation and it bumped all the plans everyone else had worked out waiting in line.
The staff should have taken control of the situation and removed that lady from the front of the line. Instead we were told to stop it and act like adults. We were, I did not grab her by the hair like I wanted to, haha. I will never go back to this campground!

Old Orchard Campground has been the highlight of my summer since I was little. The campground is located off the dammed portion of the Au Sable river above the foote dam. The lake provides excellent fishing from bass to panfish. The lake is excellent for for cruising around or water skiing or tubing. The campground has lots along the water too for convent access but are a little more money but totally worth it if you have a boat. Old orchard offers both electric and rustic style campsites. It usually gets packed on the weekends and slower during the week. There is a full provisional store located in the center by the entrance that has anything as everything available for purchase. Definetly take some to get an ice cream too because they give a lot and it is really good. A single scoop is equal to a double! The bathroom facility's are clean and easy to get to. If your looking for a good peaceful get away this is the place to go!

Website is misleading. We booked online because it stated WIFI and we had work to do while there, showers were also stated under " amenities" so it was expected in the cost. But when we arrived they handed us a paper with WIFI info and costs. $7.00 PER DEVICE, PER DAY, which adds up. We wanted a refund but they refused stating the website says, "WIFI Available," but that is incorrect. Photo added from the website listing. Under amenities, it states WIFI and bathhouses. They will probably change now, or should, to not be so deceitful. They next day we went back again because we discovered there was a charge for the showers, too! Plan to pay a lot more than the cost of the site to stay there and use anything. We have no problem with that if they stated it up front, then it could be our choice to stay or not, but this way, everything was a surprise with their "no cancellation" policy. Staff did not address the issues or help resolve and acted like they did not care. Campsites were bad, too, crammed together and not like the map indicated. Very disappointed so we left early anyway.

Got lucky enough to snag a week-long stay on a waterfront site (401) the last week of July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We had very nice neighbors and had a great week of relaxing.

Pros:

The website booking process was very easy. Sites are reasonably priced around $25-30/night.

The park is very dog-friendly, which we appreciated. We have 2 pits and they absolutely love camping. The park has several dog walking areas with waste bags for poo pickup.

Nice large, woodsy, level lots. Mostly dirt, some grass. Lots of shade. Many sites are waterfront. Sadly, many of the trees have been affected by the gypsy moth caterpillars this year. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit. We did see some people bring their own fire pit ring.

There is a gentleman who came around regularly to pick up bags of trash. You just leave them at the road, by the site marker.

We found it to be very quiet during the week, which is typical. The park filled up Thursday night for the weekend.

Delicious hard ice cream served from the store.

Found many good fishing spots from shore. The river is mostly quiet, with the occasional pontoon and jetski.

"The Point" is a nice walk down a peninsula with tent camping. The end use to be a boat ramp, but is now a fishing hot spot and beautiful location for views. We took our dogs for a swim there and they loved it!

Cons:

Water and electric are poorly located. Plan on bringing a few extra hoses and extension cords. Some site's water and electric were located several sites away. Be aware that some sites are still running on 20amp.

The large store is mostly empty. I work in a campstore and I don't think Old Orchard realizes how much profit they could be making by filling the store with desirable items. Not one souvenir style item with "Old Orchard" is sold here. Just a few camping staples and cold items. We found ourselves driving into Oscoda for most things we needed.

There is trash everywhere. This park needs some upkeep. We went on several walks and were disappointed in how much garbage is just lying around. Mini booze bottles, wrappers, cigarette butts, random underwear. Even the playground was littered with trash.

Bathrooms were ok. Clean, but very outdated and run down. Showers run on tokens/quarters and do not have a temperature control. Good thing I actually enjoy a blazing hot shower, but I can imagine this would be difficult with small children.

We had hoped to relax and unwind during our midweek camping trip to Oscoda, but heavy machinery was still in use--past dinner time and past dark. The leaf removal using loud heavy machinery continued until just before 9:00pm. It could have been a nice trip despite the shower tokens. I'm sure there must be a reason for them, but I won't be back to find out why.

Great location, but, the township must be reinvesting the money made here, elsewhere. The bathrooms are in need of repair, they actually charge you to use the showers, and many of the sites require extra ext cords and long hoses to reach the outlets and spigots in some cases having to run them through other peoples sites. The picnic tables are bowed and splintered. If not for all these things, it'd be a great place to camp..
