The Terrace Inn is a historic hotel on the State of Michigan Register located within the association of Bay View. On a bluff situated 3 blocks from Little Traverse Bay, the Inn is open to the public year round for lodging and dining. The 1911 Restaurant inside the Terrace Inn offers fine, regional, freshly prepared and healthy menu that changes seasonally. In season the restaurant is open daily for dinner and off-season varies. Often it is open weekends through fall and winter. The Bay View community closes from November to May, so roads are un-plowed except those leading to the Inn and Bay View administrative office. (The only two buildings open in the winter). Winter offers cross country skiing and downhill skiing at Boyne highlands and Nubs Nob. An ice skating rink is half mile away with warming house and all the downtown stores and shops are open. Summer is prime time and most busy for the Inn. Reservation for dining on the terrace are a must for the most part. We also have happy hour and a cocktail patio to enjoy outdoors which does not require reservations. Families and groups are encouraged to dine in our air conditioned dining room to maintain a peaceful romantic dining experience on the terrace. Rooms range from cute and cozy Queen or Twin rooms with private bath and shower, hairdryer, wifi, cable TV, a/c, housekeeping and breakfast to spacious Suites with kitchenettes and jetted tubs to in between our King Rooms with full bath. All rooms retain some original furnishings harking back to 1911 when the Inn was built. Suites have kitchenettes. The smallest most economical option is our Standard Cottage Rooms, especially if you are not planning to stay several days or spend much time in your room. Packages for lodging and dining and off-season and last minute specials and deals may be available!

Room was clean buy very small, only 1 chair and full size bed. They served a nice breakfast but was cold. Just outside the downtown area in a beautiful private community. It is a seasonal hotel so make sure you call before you book to see what they have to offer.

Hi Kathy. The rooms are smaller that are the "cottage" rooms. It is a Queen Bed, not full, just to clarify. Not all rooms are available unless you book directly with the hotel. We have larger rooms with King Bed and even Suites. Thank you for staying and you are correct about calling ahead. It is seasonal around here and our restaurant hours vary due to that. Take care!

Not only is the Inn beautiful, they make you feel very welcome. I feel it’s great for a single person to go alone, couples for a romantic getaway, a group of people because there are nice common areas to gather, and even though it doesn’t have all the modern things kids like there are parks and walking trails all very close to entertain children. The food is excellent as well. Will definitely be back and be recommending to others 😊

Had a great weekend visit, highly recommend...owners are very involved paying attention to every detail. Breakfast was excellent, far more than expected. Location is close to downtown and overlooks Little Traverse Bay. The hotel, although older, is very clean and very well maintained.

We love this hotel and it is in the center of the Bay View community. The manger Belinda was great and Noah was great at breakfast...actually all the staff great as well as the owner who poured me a Negroni...very good! The breakfast each morning was exceptional and we loved their happy hour appetizers and drinks. Beautiful setting and well maintained! We will be back next year!
