I started visiting the Beachcomber about 3 years ago and has become my go to location.
Over this time I have been a guest there somewhere in the vicinity of 15 - 18 times, usually short 3 day weekend stays when they've had availability.
This place is a nothing short of a gem...
It has everything that you'd want for that lakefront respite; * private sandy beach, * heated pool, * picnic area w/grilles & picnic tables and the rooms are always immaculate.
If you're looking for lakefront location in or around Port Austin, there's no better place...
The location is right on the Lake Huron shoreline next to the marina and community park at the center of Port Austin.
Last but not least, the owner Glenn and his staff are outstanding - they are cheerful & friendly and always make you feel welcome during your stay.
I'm already looking forward to my 2025 stays at the Beachcomber next year.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality motel in or near Port Austin.

The room was scrupulously clean. I wish there was some local information in the room. The beds in room 1 were extremely hard, and I’m not picky about beds. However, the beach was gorgeous and right there with nice beach chairs. There is an open supply closet but it would be nice to know about that. Also room 1 has an open a frame window which lets quite a bit of light in at night. However, in terms of the local accommodations quite nice. The front desk greeting left something to be desired.

Room Tip: Room 1 is on the end so very quiet, but quite light at night.

We always stay at Beachcombers every year when visiting Port Austin. Comfy beds and clean beach. Perfect place to have a bonfire on the beach, take a dip in the lake, or sit and watch the sky change color over beautiful Lake Huron when the sun sets! Also has a nice clean heated pool 5 feet deep. Very kid friendly! The owner Glen is a wonderful host and keeps the property and rooms well maintained.

It is in the prime location of the city and walking distance to visit the shops, bars/restaurants, ice cream shop, bakery, and miniature golf in town.

Perfect location to celebrate the 4th of July holiday as the city parade travels in front of the motel and you can watch the fireworks on their beach! Love this place! Highly recommend.

This is a great place to stay for multiple families vacationing together. The rooms are bigger than typical motel rooms, we had plenty of room for all of our stuff. The pool is very nice and located conveniently between the rooms. The owner was working on the grounds every morning, it is nice to stay at a family owned business. He was accommodating to us, and let us use our smoker we had brought. They have picnic tables and a big tree in a grassy area next to the pool. The private beach is nothing special, but yet all you really need. And it's right next to the public beach and the longest pier you will ever walk on. There is also a park and exercise equipment right next to the motel. It has beautiful sunsets and a bonfire pit on the beach, there was a bunch of free wood piled up. This was a great stay and I would highly recommend it!

I love this place, I have stayed there 4 times over the past couple of years. Very clean, great beds and wonderful beach. This is a family owned business that takes great care of their guests and has very high standards in customer service.

Our Family has booked 3 apartments with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen for the last 2 years. Glenn and his wife Jill are the perfect host. You are right on the beach and only a 2 block walk to town and next to state fishing pier.

Family of 6, we booked a 2 bedroom with kitchen. Location is perfect, right on the water. Small beach adjacent to a larger beach. Pool was very nice and clean, property well maintained, staff was friendly and things are well kept all around. Plenty of space for social distancing. Room was very nice, all the amenities you’ll need are there. Only suggestion we would make is to add a tv to the bedrooms. Otherwise, everything was great and we will see you next summer!

Cute place to stay rooms are typical motel style. Located on a small beach. Next to a public beach and access. Located very close to the only town intersection. A bit pricey for what you get. I travel weekly for business across the US mainly Marriott properties. Only real negatives were the mattress was very sagging, and mold on the ceiling in the shower.

My wife and I visited the Beachcomber September 2022 and had a wonderful 2 day stay on the lake. It's a great location within walking distance of town. Clean and comfortable accommodations. I have stayed at other locations in Port Austin and this was the best. Thank you Glenn and Jill for making this a memorable stay. This would be good for couples or family. Highly recommended. Just what we were looking for and even better. Thank you all.

This was our second visit and we will definitely be going back again next year. The pool is the cleanest outdoor pool I have ever been in. The beach is great. Glenn and his family are the ultimate hosts and the room was very clean

Not sure if they allow pets. I didn't hear or see any when we were there. Give them a call 989-738-8354.
