Peeling paint in rooms, hairs in the bathroom, worlds thinnest towels provided. The Check-in is at a converted gas station. Pool is not lit at night. Small hot tub but at least it was hot. Beds are fine.

There have got to be other places to stay…

Overall good experience. Bed are comfortable. Shower is hot. Comes with refrigerator, tv, dresser. Very friendly staff. Room was immaculate. Housekeeper came around daily for our needs and went above and beyond. Great local business! Will be staying again! Thank you for the getaway!

The location and pool are 5 star! The room we had was very old, dated and small. There were a few large groups of family’s staying together, they were loud, kids were running all night pounding on doors etc.
other positive things the manager did allow us to check in at 1:00.
The room was very clean.
However, I wouldn’t stay here again.

We had planned to stay two nights!! The beds were so hard it was difficult to relax on them. The rowdy guests on the lower level kept us awake until 2:39am. No one to call because there were no phones in room. So we called with cell phone and left a message...which was never responded to. No list of nearby restaurants. There was no ice or coffee in office, we weren’t given WiFi info until next afternoon. At 3pm our rooms still haven’t been made up. No evidence that COVID Protocol was in effect. Staff at office was MIA. Rooms were overpriced and an additional 3% was added for the use of Credit Card. There was no chair in the room, linens were at a minimum. Parking your car was in the rear of the building using street parking. Very limited spaces behind 2-story unit. The rear staircase was had 17 steps and was unlighted at night. The second night we decided to ask a friend for a big favor, they made room for us to sleep in their travel trailer at a nearby campground. For those who rated this a 5-Star Motel, they must not have stayed here in 2020. Port Austin deserves better and so did we!

I recently stayed in unit 2 with my husband. We were planning on staying 2 nights but only stayed 1. The bed felt like I was sleeping on a box spring. After both my husband and I had a sleepless night I got up with a backache, neck ach and shoulder ache. Nothing has been updated accept the floor since the 70’s. Even the sheets looked questionable to sleep on. The fan does not work in the bathroom, the base heat board is rusted. You don’t have to worry about covid in this room compared to the wall air conditioner that is so old and loud could be giving you legionnaires disease which is worse than covid. I understand that the small town motels need to make money when they can and I paid $159.00 to sleep I this horrible room but they could at least gave comfortable bed to sleep on. They make it look from the outside like it is well maintained but traveler beware. Because of them we were so tired we only went to the farmers market and went home. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!! Go to the Sand Dollar instead that was my first choice but they were booked.

the room was lower quality than we anticipated it to be. We got a strong smell of cigarettes and nothing seemed clean there. The walls were thin and cracking, we could clearly hear other guests through the walls. Something we couldn’t get over was the smell, it was overwhelming and wouldn’t go away. We also noticed there were a handful of spiders that we had to get rid of.

I’m here at Lakeside Motor Lodge at this moment. I am far from disappointed in my stay. No, I would never recommend nor come back to this motor lodge. I stayed in the motel # 3. Very run down and extremely dirty when I checked in. I was trying to keep my composure as I was traveling with my 2 grandchildren..I didn’t want the attention of our vacation together to be unpleasant but these motel accommodations were NASTY. Upon arrival there was a extremely dirty red chair in the room. Why would they put that in a room where people sleep?!? I was worried about all kinds of mites living in it so I promptly put outside. That evening while turning my bed down I found dried blood on the bed spread. A wolf spider in the bathroom. No sign for housekeeping to NOT COME IN...but they did anyways. Filthy dirty floor behind the dresser, torn bathroom curtains, spider webs on the ceiling. Only plastic shower curtain with no cloth shower curtain hanging. Shower curtain hooks missing, hook ripped off the black door of the bathroom, Worn out furniture. The bathroom floor/living area floor was not washed correctly we had to leave our shoes on while in our room. I had to put a bath towel on the floor by our bed to use as a rug so our feet would be clean when we went to bed. They charged me 120.$ a night and it should have been more like 50$ a night. I was discussed that I even continued to stay here. I wish and should have asked for my money back but was way to busy enjoying what Port Austin had to offer. PLEASE TAKE MY WORD AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTOR LODGE. They NEED to teach their housekeeping staff to RAMP us their cleaning!! UGH! Open your eyes up Todd, your place is run down an a TRUE DISAPPOINTMENT :/

The owner has a temper that will fly into a tirade if you make any noise; even at 6:30 PM on a Friday. He needs to attend anger management classes and a customer service seminar. If you want to have a good visit do not go here and the rooms are cramped and falling apart. Our group will never go here again; DONE! Also our group has spent over $9,000 in revenue there in the past three years and we are grandparents, parents and children; not a rowdy group so no more revenue for Lakeside ever!

Response from Lakeside M, Owner at Lakeside Motor Lodge
Responded 16 Aug 2017
Due to numerous guest complaints each year with your group, management took action and responded out of respect for all Lakeside Motor Lodge guests. Unfortunately, we cannot allow glass bottles to be in the pool area ( management did provide Styrofoam cups on multiple occasions to your group ) nor allow loud, boisterous noise which impacts other guests enjoyment from common areas. Therefore, while we appreciate your business the last three years, we felt it was best for your group to find accommodations elsewhere in the future. Thank you for your understanding the perspective from our other guests as well as the management policy.

Room was cramped, dirty, noisy and soiled bedspread. Beds were ok for comfort. Price was way too high for the quality offered. Air conditioning was so noisy it had to be turned off for sleeping. Doors did not seem to be adequately secure.

Well Drove up to port Austin with a friend. We were gonna go kayaking ..ended up to windy to actually go kayaking..lame.

We gotten a hotel that was less then a half mile to the beach. Fantastic.. Booking was horrible any wheres in port Austin since you have to book two nights..even if it's during the week.

The hotel was not worth the price we paid 125$ for one night. Nothing was updated and the beds were so hard and uncomfortable! Stains on the carpets and the walls needed fresh paint.

One thing I should say is that. Its just a place to stay and I totally understand in the summer is were they make the most of their money. They need to refresh the rooms.
