While touring the fine wineries and vineyards of Michigan's majestic East coast, we found ourselves in the hamlet of Port Austin and were most fortunate to stay at Lake Street Manor. Our hosts were kind enough to accommodate our late arrival, and greeted us warmly and made us feel most at home. The house was clearly antique, yet beautifully maintained; an air of peace and quiet was in every room. However, the classic home also featured a wonderful hot tub, wi-fi, and other modern amenities. Our stay was concluded in most charming fashion with a full, homemade breakfast and lively conversation with our host.

Staying in this 1871 house was a treat, as was having the huge backyard garden to relax in. The rooms are small but well appointed with TV/DVD players, queen beds & A/C. Carolyn makes breakfast at the time of your choosing; bicycles are available at no charge for cruising the neighborhoods. Hot tub is available in the afternoons/evenings. One night we had a fire in the firepit and had smores & watched the bats fly over the gardens. You are super close to all the shops, restaurants & harbor, its lovely to stroll down to watch the sunset. Carolyn & Jack are very welcoming hosts who are so helpful with recommendations. We had a great time here!

Jack & Carolyn made us feel right at home from the start. We used the bikes, watched fireworks in the backyard, and made good use of the refrigerators, From the manor we could walk everywhere in town, which is a big plus for us. Carolyn even loaned us her library card (nice library) to check out books - though we ended up buying several used books at the library. ....Cy & Janet Yoakam (Ann Arbor)

Amazing bed & breakfast! I had always wanted to stay at one just like this one! I was not disappointed! A last minute weekend getaway, turned into a beautiful and romantic vacation!
Everything was perfect...we were made to feel welcome before we even arrived!
Jack stayed up a bit late for us because by the time I left work, drove an hour to meet up with my significant other and we left, we still had two hours left to drive to get there! Jack was so nice to stay up and wait for us. He also recommended some good local eateries.
Carolyn was so welcoming in every way!
She made sure we had everything we needed and truly made us feel right at home. She cooked us the most amazing breakfasts along with coffee juice and tons of fresh fruit. She shared with us the history of the house, before and after pictures, and was just the picture of the perfect host!
We loved that we had the back porch and whole backyard to explore, yard games to play and the hot tub right outside of our room!
The house is absolutely lovely and everything is very well maintained.
The grounds offer so much - two full size swings, deck and patio chairs, beautiful gardens, trees, a patio with several tables, barbeque areas, a picnic table, and all decorated with birdhouses, wind-chimes, flowers and twinkling lights! The care they take in maintaining and beautifying the property definitely shows!
Lake Street Manor is the perfect getaway and truly has the sweetest, kindest Innkeepers!
Our experience was utter bliss and the price is wonderful too!
We are already planning our next trip there,….soon!!!!

The hosts are very friendly. The place is very comfortable and clean, makes you feel just like home. The rate is good, you will need to call in to figure out how much it cost and what type of promotion is going on. This B&B is right on downtown, so you can walk to the groceries store, liquor store and the beach. They have a nice back yard where you can bbq. They have bikes for you to ride around the downtown for free too.

I was only there for 2 nights. It is a historic little inn with a very attentive owner who has decorated with care the whole place. there is attention to detail everywhere. It is clean comfortable and she is always there for everything. Plus she is concerned ... and checked on my well being. It is a wonderful place to stay and woudl highly recommend it again

Caroline and Jack, the proprietors of LSM, are wonderful hosts. The +100-year old house has been magnificently maintained, the quaint rooms are exquisitely decorated, and their backyard is so beautiful you may want to stay there rather than head to the beach.

Plenty to do in Port Austin, LSM is only a two-block walk to the marina. A number of local and nearby dining options available. Highly recommend a visit to Lisa's Loft above the hardware store.

As we told Caroline as we left, it was our first stay, but it won't be our last.

Lake Street Manor Bed and Breakfast breathes history with memories of times past festooning every nook and cranny of this vintage abode. Beautiful period woodwork, high ceilings and interior antique fixtures are everywhere. The decor is a little overdone perhaps with cuteness and chachkis, but the place is otherwise clean and comfortable. Our hosts, Carolyn and Jack, were very friendly and helpful. Other than being awakened by the sound of gunshots thanks to hunting season our stay was relatively comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed in the Parlor Room....very quaint. Not a lot of room for travel bags or placement of toiletries, but we managed. A blackout curtain at the head of the bed might be helpful in keeping the streetlight glow from spilling in through the closed shutters. Delicious breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit! A lovely stay.

This was my first experience staying at a B&B and it was VERY enjoyable. My girlfriend has stayed at 6 or so B&B's over the past years both here in the US and in Europe and she enjoyed this one the most. Carolyn and Jack were terrific hosts. My girlfriend and I felt like family from the moment we walked into their home. Their home was very clean and cheerful and offered every amenity possible. The back yard is a great place to relax and enjoy your favorite beverage, meal or backyard activity. The house was built in the late 1800's by a lumber baron and it possesses great character. It is located a block from the town's restaurants and bars. At the end of the block is a marina on Lake Huron with a magnificent break wall.
Port Austin is a quaint but active town that is easy to fall in love with. We are already talking about plans to return next year.

Drove into town with no reservations and found this nifty gem on the main drag. I walked in, immediately greeted by owners, very clean, neat themes in many rooms and you can walk down to all of the bars and restaurants. Very reasonably priced, especially when you see what the lower end places want for a night and really comfortable rooms. I checked in, headed off down the street and really enjoyed area. Give this property a shot, you won't be disappointed.
