Awesome little "up north" motel - did not disappoint! Room was somewhat dated but super clean! Great location. The grounds were very well maintained. This slice of heaven actually dries their sheets on the cloths line! When was the last time you saw that? We could actually smell the sunshine and fresh air on the sheets. We will be going back next year!

We had a wonderful time at Lake Vista Resort last week. We had a family reunion with over 50 people and it was the perfect place to hold our event. The cottages and hotel provided ample room for some privacy and the courtyard was the perfect place to gather. We were able to walk to town for anything we needed and the local restaurants and shops were great. The beach, sunsets and sunrises were amazing and the heated pool provided lots of fun on the cooler days. I highly recommend Lake Vista Resort. We’ve already put our reservation in for next year.

We found this place while looking to getaway. Beautiful view right on the water, clean and updated rooms, right in town, and very friendly staff. You get an excellent view of the sunset/sunrise and its walking distance of a small beach and the pier. We will definitely be back!

Very nice place. Quiet, right on water but had to walk 1/2 block to beach ( not a problem with us) . Family run, talked to owners, very friendly. Nice rooms. Beautiful view of Lake Huron. It was a bit more pricey than I usually pay but it was worth it.

This place is both wonderful for its location on the water and terrible for the room.

While listed as a "Resort" it is Not.
Lack of normal amenities, no shampoo/conditioner, no tissues, and No Curtains on any of the windows just blinds which do not block the sunrise. So if you are thinking of sleeping late No Way.
Definitely over priced.
Suggest looking somewhere else.

This was an Amazing trip. After the Pandemic, you really don't know how places are going to be in the aftermath of a lost year. This place is family-owned and run like a Diamond. If you have a chance to get to the Thumb of Michigan treat yourself to this lovely place. <3

We were trying to get away for the weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. After booking a “luxury suite” over the phone for $160/night we arrived to a room that was nowhere near luxury. It was smaller than our bedroom at home and had almost nothing in the room. The guidebook was a complete manual of rules and fines we would be charged if there was so much as a speck of dirt left in the room. We went down to the check in counter to see if there was a mix up in the room we were given. The woman behind the counter began to insult us and then her mother, the owner, chimed right it. After being called childish, told I was born yesterday, and then informed there was no way we could get our money back we left the building feeling offended and cheated. We had spent 10 minutes in the room and were out $320. We went home that same day after a four-hour drive in hopes to put this terrible place behind us. I would strongly advise anyone to stay as far away from Lake Vista Resorts as possible.

We recently stayed at Lake Vista Motel in Port Austin. Although I knew that most places in the thumb area would lean toward “rustic”, and that we would be paying for the location, this takes the cake. It is only open during the summer, so I guess they feel they have to charge as much as they can, while they can.

The motel rooms were $100/nt. We’ve paid that much before, but there is usually something of value associated with it, such as the fully furnished condo we stayed at on Maui. I have a certain standard in mind when I pay that much, and this was nowhere close.

If I had been able to see the motel room before reserving it and driving 2 hours to get there, I would not have paid $100/nt to stay at this place. There was no phone, no tissues, no iron/ironing board, no hair dryer, no shampoo, no conditioner, no hand lotion, no shower cap – none of the amenities that I expect at moderate or economy motels. There was 1 very small bar of soap for the sink, and another for the shower. Not only were they small, but because there was a tiny sliver left when they came to clean, they didn’t leave any more. We had to go to the desk and ask for another bar.

The room was small, with a very small bathroom. There was 1 hand towel by the sink, and 2 thin, ragged bath towels and wash cloths. They came with a warning not to use them when washing off makeup, or to take them to the pool (bring your own).

There was a notebook in the room, with 4 pages of do’s and don’ts, and were accompanied by threats to charge you to replace an item or to charge your account for another day if you infringe on the “rules”. Most places try to make you feel welcome, but not here. There was a reminder in the book that they own the place, and you are just renting from them, so don’t move the furniture. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, motels, condos, etc, but I have never felt so much like I was imposing on someone as here.

On the positive side, the room appeared to be clean. The grounds were small, but nice. The view is very nice, but there is no beach. They advertise their pool to be the biggest in the county, but it looked to be an ordinary size to me.

To sum up, if you want to spend $100/nt, go somewhere nicer.

Just now seeing this question, sorry for the delay. I believe they are closed for the season. They will re-open in the Spring. Haven't stayed in the cottages, but they look nice.
