I have stayed at the Captains Quarters motel 1-3 times a year for 5 years. The pricesnare fantastic. The rooms are very clean and have been newly remodeled. You will have a great bed and get hot showers. They put new wood flooring down, which is better than carpet. It is right on Lake Huron, 1/4 mile from one park with playground for children and lots of swimming. ! mi. more and you are at the city park and a walkout pier. A little further down is the Tawas fishing and boatin pier. Then there is the Tawas point state park with the light house viewed from the hotel.They now have refrigeraters, new flat screen tvs, and microwaves. There are even chairs to relax in outside your room. Customer service excellent, good places to eat and a walmart and fishing, swimming and fun.They are priced less than all of the other hotels.

Would not have picked this establishment based on exterior looks but relied on Tripadvisor comments and it paid off.Middle of the week stay,reservation via phone day before.Owner greeted me by name on my arrival at the agreed time,friendly courteous service,no ice machine but nevertheless he went away and came back with ice in a styrofoam container. Room was very recently renovated and spotless.Suspect there are more guests on the weekends considering its location nearly on the Huron lakefront. Good Wi-Fi service as well as TV. Quiet even tho right on the main drag Rt. 23.

We arrived for the Fourth of July weekend. The room was great. Owners continue to upgrade the rooms.... Ours had a flat screen TV mounted on the wall, which was nice. Owners are great people. Really enjoyed our stay..

This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in. The hotel was expensive for the age and condition.
The room was very small, but we were only there for an overnight stay. Checked in to the room and changed clothes and left for an all day concert. When we returned to the room for the night, we found a live bug in the bed that resembled a cockroach. Needless to say we were not staying and informed the mgr. we were leaving and why. She could not or would not refund our money, but assured us the owner would contact us. We made the 2 hour drive home and waited the next day for the call from the owner which never came. We finally called Jan, the owner and she was rude, would not even consider refunding any of our money. She actually lied to us and made things up. Pretty sad really. The Captain's Quarters is located on 1115 South Lake St. in Tawas City, MI. Do not waste your time and money. Any legimate business would be upset that this happened to one of their guests, but they didn't even act suprised and seemed to have gone this route with people before.

Where to start? This place is bad. The owner actually had the nerve to call police because I decided to clean truck and listen to Tigers game on radio. A lot more, stay longer than a day or two and they provide No cleaning, No toilet paper, No clean sheets or towels but 1 time a week and you have to change the bed yourself.. The air conditioner has been broke for the whole month, the owner knew and said he was going to replace. No phone in room, No dresser in room, took 2 weeks to get a fridge and microwave. The owner did call police for noise, the police did show and told me to turn down radio at 5:30-6 pm just as game got going. Hope you don't want hot shower cause that runs out if a person or two decides to shower before you. I am not a drinker!! But the owner proceeded to tell me I drink to much beer and play music to loud,, never done either. Get this July 4th weekend is here now, the owner has friends in room next to me, guess who I have a picture of drinking a beer !!!!! I so want to tell this guy to go but I figure this review is better than talking to police again.. I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. The owner needs to get out of this business, I should submit the pic I took of him sitting here drinking the day after he called police on me. Several other people staying here could not believe what he had done to only show up the next day and drink beer and root for the Tigers on July 1st 2016. I actually made the comment out loud towards him (Mike) hey wait a minute you don't like the Tigers - you called the police on me yesterday for listening to the game, he was sitting with his friends and said nothing. His friend actually walked up to me and asked why I was upset, so I proceeded to tell him the story..

We spent a night at the Captains Quarters and were generally pleased with our experience. The motel is under new management, and in the process of updating each room. Rooms were clean and the night was quiet. The price was reasonable and the location is on the main drag in Tawas City, so it is just about 4 miles from Tawas Point State Park. Some of the bad reviews for this place may have come from a time when the old management was in charge. You can spend a lot more money for a lot less in the area. This is not the Ritz Carlton, but you ain't payin through the nose either. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking to save a few bucks.

We arrived at Captain's Quarters for the Tawas Birding Festival. We had a pleasant stay at the recently-renovated motel. The air condition worked, the beds were clean and comfortable. The lady who owned the motel was very pleasant. She vacuumed our room for us around lunch time.
I highly recommend Captain's Quarters, which is the most affordable place to stay in the area. Most of the other motels in the area charge $100/night, which is ridiculous. Captain's Quarters is closer to $50/night, and is a great value.
The only small issue was that the TV didn't work. I'm sure the lady at the desk would have taken care of it if we had mentioned it. We didn't care about the TV so we didn't mention it.

Spent the weekend,enjoyed the room,the price was good,and the manager was very helpful,went above and beyond to make our stay very pleasant. Will stay there again. The only problem,you need to put the phone number in the ad.

Arrived late on a Saturday night and got the last room. Great rate!! Our room was recently remodeled with new carpet and bathroom fixtures. Got great help from the manager when we left some important stuff behind. Great customer care there.

Was a great weekend had a very clean room,a great price.
& a good nite sleep ,will go back again. was there in 2007 it sure got cleanup, nice & a manager thats cares for there guess ,she went up & above her job. To take care my needs.
