I have been staying there for years as I visit Tawas in August for a yearly event. I was very disappointed this time. Apparently, there is new ownership. He is making room changes which are for the worse, not the better. The air conditioner is in the back wall over 8 feet high!! Impossible to reach. Impossible to use. I even, unsafely, tried to stand on the bed to turn it on. No point having it if you can't use it!!! It's hot in August. The "new" fridge no longer has even a small freezer area to keep the ice packs I brought frozen. The tv remote was comcast but the have spectrum service. I don't know if it was broken, needed new batteries or something else. Trying to get it to change the channels was very difficult and frustrating. I have been a loyal customer for a long time. I will probably need to change accommodations next time so I can enjoy myself. What is the new owner thinking? You will loose business.

I read the reviews. It’s not horrible. We stayed one night as we were passing through town. Covid -19 precautions were all in place. Not the most fancy but very clean. Staff was very nice. We were skeptical because of the bad reviews but it’s really not bad. Needs updating but I would take cleanliness over updates anyway.

Older strip motel. Very basic but it was neat & clean. Only wanted a bed for one night so it worked fine. No coffee pot - no hair dryer - not even a box of tissue! As I said very basic. Ok if all you want is a night's sleep. Price was less than most in the area.

This place must be under new management. Our stay was comfortable and clean. The room looked good (possibly freshly remodeled?). The Crows Nest is part of The Bay Inn so we were offered the free breakfast and use of the Pool & Hot Tub next door. The bugs are Fish Fly’s and are common to Michigan. They are every where along the coast so you get used to dealing with them. All in all it was very clean, comfortable and nice. We enjoyed our stay.

My husband stayed here for business after being told Bay Inn had no rooms available. After staying 3 nights I came up to join him the 4th day. Noticing the room smelled very musty, he was coughing and developed a upper respiratory infection with a 102.5 fever. We checked out the following morning, I also starting to cough. After seeing a Dr. My husband had a bacterial pneumonia. Curious to know if anyone else has contracted a respiratory infection after staying here? Could just be a coincidence.

I gave 4 stars because this little hotel is good for what it is, an affordable place to stay up north for a night or two. Check in is at the Bay Inn, which is right next door, you also are given access to the Bay Inn pools, etc, however, we did not use them. The rooms are motel, drive up style, and are small, but they have a small window unit AC that works well. The room was relatively clean, and in good repair. All in all, a decent, affordable place to sleep while doing other things in the Tawas area.

I called to book the Bay Inn next door and the guy who took my call talked me into the Crows Nest. He told me they had remodeled all the rooms and they were all up to date and nice. What a lie that was, We had stayed here before years ago and I believe in second changes but this place is very gross. Old wall ac unit ready to fall out, mattress was not comfortable, lamps were brass and from the 80's,no room for anything in the bathroom, vent in bathroom was hanging from the ceiling, tv was so small we could barely see it. We paid $150 for a very small outdated nasty stinky room on a sat and not one thing in the room had been updated since the place opened. I believe in second chances and took that chance but would never stay there again... I'm also very upset the guy lied to me and led me to believe that it had been updated. I also want to say what horrible customer service the place has. I complained to the manager about our room being nasty and stinky and he basically told me oh well hotel is sold out there was nothing he could do. He even stated I was not smelling smoke because the place is smoke free and that there was no way the room smelled of smoke. Well it did I once was a smoker and know what is smells like. When checking out they never once even asked me how my stay was. PLACE IS HORRIBLE !!!

The worst experience in a hotel that I've ever had. Owner rude and banging on my door telling me I had to leave, when I had paid for the room-he did this twice!!! Strange guy pacing in front of the window in my room-talking (yelling) on phone for hours about cops, and wanting his pictures...???Shabby, sad room-no updates in eons, broken toilet paper holder, after all this-they double charged me!!! Reporting to the Better Business Bureau today!!!

This room was probably one of the most disgusting places I have ever stayed in, in my life. I walked in and was immediately disgusted. The room smelled old and dusty, there was someone else's long hair stuck to the shower wall, the window was cloudy and and some kind of old drippings running down them. Thankfully I brought my own sheets and blanket with me. This motel is awful. The staff were terrible as well. I would NEVER stay in this place again and I strongly advise that no one else does either. I forgot to add that the pool was atrocious, if you have a child please dont let them even go near it, the water was thick looking and it smelled like it was mostly chlorine. I would be afraid of contracting some weird disease. I hate this dirty, filthy, dingy, disgusting hell hole.
