I was so happy we were placed on the canal side so we could sit on out deck and watch the boats come under the lift bridge. I was concerned about how loud it would be being that I am a light sleeper, But the joy and excitment of all of us jumping out of bed at 3am to see...

Greatest location in the city. See the ships in the canal without leaving your room. Clean, modern rooms. Helpful, friendly staff. Easy walk to lake walk and shops at canal park, but over the lift bridge so out of fray just enough to be peaceful yet so convenient. We will definitely make this our permanent stay place when visiting family...

We actually travelled in May 1914. We loved the motel! Very amazing to watch the bridge go up and down so the ships could enter. The motel was very comfy and clean. It was very convenient to touristy places we visited and drove to.

My husband and I spent two days in Duluth. This place is a true gem hotel. Yes location is the best in town for ship watching but the hospitality and accommodations are top of the line too! We had a beautifully decorated room with gas fireplace, balcony outside, 2 person jacuzzi and huge windows on 2 sides! Family property and...

We stayed one night on our way to Grand Marais from Chicago. Booked here based on great reviews and glad we did! It's perfectly located for strolling around the shops and cafes. We had an outstanding dinner at the Lake Avenue Cafe. We stayed in the corner King room. Very nice view, especially at night with twinkling stars and lights...

We have been visiting Duluth for over 40 years and this is our favorite hotel. The other reviewers have already done a wonderful job highlighting the many unsurpassed amenities so I will let you read those. Check out rates from September through May for best rates but no matter when you go it is the best value in town.

Terrific location right down by the harbor. Walking distance to everything. Fascinating to watch big freighters pass by your window. Maybe 100 yards away. Wonderful rooms. Spacious and very well design. I liked the ones on the second floor -- big hot tub and facing the canal Reasonable prices. Good breakfast. The staff is very helpful. The office is open...

When you walk in the door you know this place is different. No chain hotel feeling, almost like being welcomed into an extended families home for a visit. Stunning views..but the staff and owners have that very rare personal touch not experienced in a franchised operation. Kudo's to the owners, who stop in for coffee in the morning...for having the innate...

This property was named "Property of the Year-Under 50 Rooms" by the Minnesota Lodging Association and it certainly deserves the distinction. The staff (especially Maria) was super attentive, the view incredible, everything was immaculate, and the combination of the amenities and the view surpassed my high expectations. The bed was very comfortable with your choice of firm or hard pillows...
