We drove to Ely from Bayfield on Thanksgiving. We had hoped to eat at a small cafe in Silver Bay, but it was burned down! We ended up in Ely where we visited the Wolf Center (fascinating). The GEY is top

I have never actually stayed in the hotel as a guest in a room, but have been in the bar/restaurant that is open to the public many times. They have an incredible high up view of Shagawa Lake to go along with excellent food. They also have a very nice outdoor deck in the summer

Very comfortable and homey atmosphere! We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. The in hotel restaurant was wonderful, staff everywhere were friendly and accommodating. The lodge was decorated for Fall/Halloween in a nice subtle way. Everything was clean and nice!

Hello, I see that your place is pet friendly. We have a 50lb golden retriever and want to make sure this is ok before we book. What else do we need to know? Thanks, Pete
Hello! Yes, there were pets at the lodge when we stayed there. However, I’m just a reviewer for Trip Advisor. Perhaps you’d like to call the lodge to find out more.

Want to see the Northern Lights. Can they be seen from the hotel or nearby? If so when is generally the best time?
Thank you for your inquiry. I wish I could tell you when the best time to see the Northern Lights is. (Really depends on the weather.) At times they are visible from the lodge; if not, there are areas nearby where people have caught the best view of them. (Many times that is at 2:00am.) Personally, I've seen them in the fall months, but they also occur in the winter too. Just depends on what Mother Nature is going to throw at us.
