Located on the shores of beautiful Shagawa Lake in the heart of Minnesota’s north woods, Grand Ely Lodge is a family-friendly, four-season choice among Ely resorts. Surrounded by miles of scenic nature, Grand Ely Lodge offers the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and comfort. Outdoor buffs can get their thrills hiking, fishing, or kayaking, while those who wish to move at a slower pace can simply stroll the property to admire the lake, watching for species of wildlife and birds. Being surrounded by nature lends itself to plenty of ways to spend time outdoors, and Ely offers some of the finest hiking, biking, fishing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, cross country skiing, and more of the Upper Midwest, with plenty of complimentary activities. When you come indoors, you’ll find fine casual dining at Evergreen Restaurant and Antlers Lounge, and cozy accommodations to immerse yourself in.

We enjoyed the location - just north of town - and the lovely view of the lake from our room. One night stay, so we did not explore amenities other than the pool (main pool, kiddie pool, hot tub) and the game room (pool, arcade machines, board games). The game room appeared to

Thank you for being our guest at Grand Ely Lodge and for your recent review. We appreciate your feedback and will certainly take your comments into consideration when making upgrades to specific amenities. I have shared your dining experience with my kitchen staff. They, too, are pleased you enjoyed a wonderful St. Patrick's Day dinner and that you enjoyed the bagpipes! Unfortunately, due to an unexpected issue in our dining room it was closed. I apologize that you had to be seated in our lobby where the room temperature was cold, but we do appreciate your understanding and that you chose to dine with us. The restaurant is scheduled to open soon! We look forward to a return visit from you. Kind regards, Mary Z., General Mgr

This lodge is exactly what I expected for a northern Minnesota lodge. The lodge's main room was inviting and warm. Our room was a king room with sofa and was also inviting. The furniture was log and a perfect fit with the lodge. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend

Small issues but nothing major. Rustic, "up North" interior is a plus. Friendly staff. Beautiful view of Shagawa Lake. Comfortable rooms but would like to have thicker bed coverings/quilt during the winter. The return of HBO and/or Showtime would be a plus. Would like to

Picked this restaurant due to the wheelchair access for my mother-in-law. I ordered a steak medium and while it was cooked correctly, my brother in law also ordered a steak medium rare that came cooked more than mine. Food was average for the price. Restaurant was not busy

Thank you for your inquiry. I wish I could tell you when the best time to see the Northern Lights is. (Really depends on the weather.) At times they are visible from the lodge; if not, there are areas nearby where people have caught the best view of them. (Many times that is at 2:00am.) Personally, I've seen them in the fall months, but they also occur in the winter too. Just depends on what Mother Nature is going to throw at us.
