I'm stayed 2 nights at this hotel with my business partner. Our room was at floor 4 that i think was smoking floor because there was a very bad smell of cigarette in the room and even in the corridor. It was better that the reservation asked us if we prefer to stay at smoking room or not, especially when i was travel with my partner we prefer nonsmoking room I ask for changing the room 3 times and also meet one of manager requested for change room next day I came reception ask for change room guy say I need to inform earlier it is one of my complains against this hotel.
When I spoke with reception guy that time one of foreign manager notice and immediately approach to me and strictly ask me about my changing room I really impressed about him because after 10 minute change my room on floor 9 ,

Hotel itself is new, rooms and furniture are also new. Hotel was clean but the bath room and toilet was not s much clean. the glass that we should put our tooth brush inside was not clean at all. Also there was tooth brush, Toothpaste, sanitary pqpad,... in the bath room . Mini bar was also complimentary as all other hotels but
they gave you two bottles of water as free every day.
breakfast was good and contains every thing you need.
the most advantage of this hotel was their staff. I'm talking about Assistant Manager Mr Yousuf who make our stay comfortable and room change arrange transport I really admire about him we just observe door area some time and some time reception and restarent you can see him every area really thanks Mr Yousuf wonderful and help so kind and help us in all kind. The breakfast lady was so polite.
location of hotel was good, so much close to center and shopping mall walking distance , but exactly in front of hotel there was a lots of restaurants. I recommend to go to floor 3, delicious food Once again thanks to Mr Yousuf for recommendations us floor 3 bar we never forgot you young man.
in case of returning to Malaysia i will chose light hotel more close to attractions and also more modern and new. But this time i went for business.
Best staff service.

I was greeted by friendly and helpful doorman who walked extra meters away from the door to help me carry my luggage after he saw me walking to cross the road. And I had a seamless check in experience by reception (Daniel) who explained about my stay, payment etc. He also answered all my questions patiently. Another staff, Ahmed also helped me to book my buffet voucher as an early bird and made sure I am able to use my voucher on the same day. I got sick very badly during my stay, and the hotel staff was the one who came to my room to check my condition and brought me to nearest clinic to get further checking at almost 11pm. Big shout out to Ms Monica for being very accommodative, Daniel for being patient, doorman (which i didnt manage to get his name) for being thoughful, Ahmed and all other staff. If you are looking for a hotel that serves purely Malaysian friendly warm hospitality, this is the right one.

Let me start off by saying how friendly and amazing the staff at The Light Hotel were during my previous stay; they are the only thing 5 stars about this hotel. The employees we met were pleasant, helpful, and friendly. 5 stars for the staff, but unfortunately the recent 5-night stay was everything poor. Last all, stay with one of the Bangladesh managers who always we were meeting in the lobby; unfortunately, the guy is not there and forgot the guy name. Please train staff like the guy who is not around, and your service is very poor. Now to the hotel itself, it should be a 3-star or less. I’ve stayed at other hotels, and this is the worst one I’ve ever experienced. I chose to stay at the light because of KWSP, which is next door, for my 5-night stay with my wife. I really thought I made a great choice. Check-in was smooth, and we even got in our room early, which was a bonus. So in the first room we got (we had to change rooms twice), the air conditioning didn’t work at all! The fridge wasn’t working either, and usually I don’t care if the fridge works or not, but I was travelling with a toddler and I need it to be working. And the toilet door and the shower handle did not work off in my hand. The 2nd room was better, but you can see it was a few days from needing repairs. This was not a cheap hotel, so I did expect things to work and not look like it was fixed with bubble gum. As I got to speak to other guests, almost everyone had the same review that service was very poor. Not like previous stays, the fresh fruits were amazing. The drinks were good. The Light Hotel is a new hotel; please improve your service with experienced staff and well-trained staff!

The building looks majestic from the outside, but....

To begin with, service is poor. The staffs at the front desk seem new, but was very reluctant to ask for assistance for decisions they are unsure off.

We asked for extra pillow to support my back but it seemed like it was a forbidden request, after repeating for 3 times, only then we got 1 out of the 3 requested, clearly mentioning it was for my back else the pain will not allow me to sleep.

The parking system is not user friendly, upon check in, we were told the exit of the car park can be done with our room's key card, but it wasnt working.

Upon re-entry, the guard / person incharge said parking was full, Mind you, we have 2 rooms booked here. A senior person then allowed us in and there was ample of parking.

Please also note that this hotel charges for any additional drinking water required beyond the 2 bottles given.

Half the staffs we encountered does not speak or understand basic English or Malay.

The room is not well maintained, besides having lizard in our rooms, we had issue with clogged wash basin, not so great mattresses and fairly small rooms with lousy view.

The only thing this hotel did well is the breakfast, the variety is good, the live counter is great where the options of roti canai, char koay teow and noodles are made to order, but it could be better organized. While the breakfast is till 10am, the staffs are quick to clear all food items on display, without heads up. This is poor for patrons who came down late and were not informed that the food will be taken away that quick.

This hotel is labeled as a 5 star, but my opinion and experiences in going to different hotels of different designations, I am of the opinion that this hotel does not qualify as a 5 star hotel.

We booked a triple room for my husband and kids, but I decided to join them over the weekend.

Asked for an extra towel but the duty manager refused to give us more bath towels when we requested for them, saying because we booked a triple room.

I just went from Kl to penang and was in Phuket a month before and none of the hotels behaved this way.

Just a terrible experience.

The hotel is great with facilities that is standard. I love the grand entrance. The staff is so far accommodating when I was there. I had a pleasant stay until..

Just one major setback, I forgotten to take my charging socket out from the hotel room when i checked out. The very next day when I realised it, I contacted them thru the WhatsApp number provided and the Front Office Manager picked up. Told her I lost my socket just a day before that. She came back to me and said that she checked and double checked but there isn’t any in the room.

I believe all this boils down to honesty of the staff working. It’s either her part or the housekeeping part that is not doing their job honestly & diligently. The good impression immediately fades away as I have no more trust in this hotel. You never know what else can be lost even with or without your presence.

Beautiful hotel with friendly helpful staff. All the hotel staff will greet you daily by placing their hand over their heart in a sign of respect & appreciation. The buffet breakfast & dinner has a tremendous variety of western & local cuisine that will make your taste buds sing & dance. Also, the location of this hotel is perfect as there are plenty of restaurants close by & the Carnival Sunway Mall is in walking distance. I would like to give a special thank you to Yousuf who helped me get my mobile phone back after I mistakenly left it in a Grab drivers car, his willingness to help me was amazing. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Penang for business or on holiday.

This is my first choice of hotel whenever I travel to Kulim, as it is near the Butterworth-Kulim highway exit.

I am surprised to find such a nice hotel in Mainland Penang.
The Light definitely looks like a 5-star hotel.

Superior room is reasonably priced around RM280 per night.
Outdoor parking and indoor basement parking is available.
Complimentary snack and 2 cans of soft drink is provided in the room.

One of the best hotel breakfast I had. There's dimsum, kaya toast, Hokkien Mee, dried fruits, and best of all - freshly brewed teh tarik.

My experience was excellent over-all. Being a business traveler, it is especially nice when main door and reception staff greet you with a smile and helpful recommendations for food and site-seeing. One person really stands out, Mr Yousuf (Concierge Manager) who greets with a warm and friendly smile treating you like his best friend. This truly is a highlight of my stays, I feel like a local by having a friend greeting me.

Hi. Yes, they do have lunch and dinner buffet with decent spreads. I am not sure about the exact price but it could be between RM 60-80++ depending on the date and theme. They also have a sit down restaurant with lunch sets, but I can't recall if it was on the 2nd or the 3rd floor of the hotel.
