This August I was driving back to school with a friend when my car broke down just in front of Whispering Pines. I walked up to the motel to book a room, afraid that we wouldn't be back on the road until the next day. The motel was full, but the owners, Gary and Jill, offered us their own room...

We had spent too much time at Split Rock Lighthouse exploring and by the time we started looking for a motel it was getting dark. My first choices from Trip Advisor reviews were all full and a couple that I called also were full. Then one of the motel owners recommended we try Whispering Pines. It was now dark and...

We spent a few days in the honeymoon cabin to do some ATV riding and sightseeing. The cabin was very cozy with a nice fireplace and comfortable bed! We were able to access the ATV trail from the room which was very nice. Gary is a great owner, very accomodating and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Spent a few days on the North Shore and found the Whispering Pines to be a good home base for exploring the area. This is a well maintained and clean classic motel with a little northwoods charm that is just a short walk or drive to the Tettegouche State Park visitor center. Situated on a hill north of Hwy 61...

We were on our way back from a bear hunting trip in Canada over Labor day weekend, that we'll just say, was the most horrible event in my lifetime. We called the trip short due to the hospitality of the Canadian outfitters and decided to head back to the states to try and salvage a trip and do some fishing...

Whispering Pines is a clean, comfortable motel, close to the Superior Hiking Trail system. But what makes it great is the owner, Gary. He was very friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. We were there on a hiking trip, and he even offered to drive us to the trail head if needed. Although we didn't use...

Love this place! Jill & Gary the owners are the best! Friendly, warm & welcoming. Will definitely be on the list for repeat visits when we make it to the North Shore. Perfectly positioned between Duluth, Ely, & State parks are close too. Wish we had more time to stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Whispering Pines Motel on a recent trip to the North Shore. The owners were wonderful and the room we had was great. It was clean, well taken care of, and cozy. The owners were so considerate and thoughtful. Our room had everything we needed, and Gary and Jill offered us their grill for...
