Upon entering this historical hotel, you get a feel for the uniqueness of this hotel. I could see why President Truman enjoyed being a guest to this hotel. As you walk to the check in counter, it is wise to go slowly and take in...More

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the in-house restaurant/bar wasn't open. And there wasn't bar service at the outdoor pool that we noticed. However, if you book a room on the 5th floor, which requires a special key card used in the elevator for access, they do provide a FREE wine and beer bar, along with lots of hot and cold munchies, on Sunday afternoon and evening. We were on the 5th floor and were pleasantly surprised by this free reception. They also served soft drinks for any young people that attended, or, as in our case, for those who don't drink alcohol. The munchies provided were very tasty and filling. You could actually hang around long enough to make yourself a decent "supper". But do remember, above all, that the cell phone reception at this establishment is lousy! You will have to go outside and literally almost stand in the middle of the street to be able to call anyone. But the rooms on the 5th floor are nice and the munchies are great on Sundays!
