Mompos is a rather interesting town- the old part seems unchanged in a 100 years.La Casa Amarillo is a lovely place to stay when visiting this magical town. The rooms are clean and comfortable -we stayed upstairs in a spacious room with a balcony. The breakfast provided was served out in the garden and had a good variety of fresh fruits,...

I stayed at La Casa Amarilla recently with my brother. We had heard of Mompos, and had heard that it was a good place to stay for Easter week, and had travelled extensively throughout Colombia (being half Colombian) so the appeal of a new adventure was tantalising. The long journey from Cartagena (going via Valleduapar is much easier and quicker)...

You feel like they abuse the guests. The rooms are ok but the bathrooms are very small and ordinary. Simple breakfast consist in a regular coffee maker cup, orange juice and eggs OR bread with butter and jam served in a communal table. Don't ever pay cash the hall refrigerator baverages at night, the night guard will overcharge you.Ask him...

Abuse the guests! Clearly you went to a different place. The coffee is imported from the coffee zone and made in a coffee maker! The breakfast is raved about. This review is ridiculous.

Solid, good rooms, and beds, very good breakfast, in Colombian terms, very helpful and friendly staff, good location, except on weekends, because the adjacent 'park' on the banks of the river 'Brazo Mompox' is centre stage for Momposino/as celebrating, drinking, dancing, thus it can get a bit noisy. Not exactly cheap in comparison, but quite 'precise' as a machinery of...

My wife and I stayed 4 nights to explore this historic UNESCO village. Our #8 room was a standard(135,000Cop = $50/night) courtyard view with a comfortable double with nightstands, wardrobe, quiet AC, fan, triple cane chairs, and nice bathroom. It was cold water only and had the architectural quirk of an open wall at the top that adjoined the next...

Very convenient location. On one side is river Magdalena, on the other side the colonial city center with lots of churches, palaces, wonderful streets, horse carriages. Reception and staff are friendly and helpful; helpful for communication is knowledge of basic Spanish. Entrance and fairly big adjacent communal areas are equipped with beautiful local chairs and other furniture, made in Mompox....

This gorgeous guest house was converted from a family home by the English owner and his Momposian wife - and yes it is as yellow as it's name suggests! It is in a fantastic location on the banks of the Magdalena, right next to beautiful Church Santa Barbara. The guest house centres around a flowered courtyard, with a kitchen and...

I stayed there because of the good reviews I read. I must say that I didnt enjoy my stay at all: The rooms are quite run down and would need some painting and refurbishment. In addition, the service was pretty poor. The staff at reception is changing too often and don't ensure that things agreed with the customers are getting...

HF, since we have no record of you staying here, this review feels somewhat out of place.

With the inner courtyard, the spacious rooms, the friendly staff, this seemed a bit like an oasis to us. It was clean, comfortable and centrally located (5mins to the main square). The WiFi was a bit unstable, especially when lots of ppl were on it. The square outside seems to be a popular hangout place for the locals (music, bars),...

The casa is right on the river and next to the main square and church. It's location is simply suberb. I was very happy to hang out here during the day and enjoy the lovely garden from the communal kitchen. The owners Richard and Alba speak English and are very kind and helpfull. Rest of the staff is very kind...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The only true guesthouse in a colonial mansion in front of the river for travelers in Mompos. We have comfortable, spacious and clean en suite private rooms as well as more economical "backpacker rooms", a communal kitchen, a sitting room with cable TV and a large colonial main room. The Casa Amarilla is equipped with wifi and hammocks sway between the pillars of the house around the internal garden and those who come for just a day or two often end up spending more time enjoying the roof terrace and company of other like-minded voyagers. Come and enjoy colonial Mompos - the Garciamarquian heartland. ... more   less
