This is not a gleaming, chic modern hostel like you might find in the bigger, more touristy cities. It's informally run and it's pretty dilapidated. The place looks like it was slapped together from random bits and pieces. If you get past the questionable first impression, it's an interesting place to stay. The dorm was pretty comfortable, it has a...

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a trip across the states. Went to check-in and no staff on site. Given a key for the dorm - lock doesn't even work from the outside so had to leave unlocked while I was out during the day. Luckily they had lockers that fit my pack which I locked up while...

Me and my friend came here for a night from New Zealand. The place is a bit of a dive but the staff are friendly and the place seems pretty safe. If you can handle sleeping a little bit more rough than usual then you could save a bit of money by staying here

Was disappointed when we got there. I don't mind old, I live in a building built in 1881, but the place was not kept up very well. Exposed wood flooring behind toilets where the linoleum didn't reach. Beds didn't have any support. The air conditioner didn't seem to be working. The front door (which was an emergency exit only) didn't...

I was in town for a conference. The hotel downtown where the conference was held was way too expensive for my budget, so I chose to stay at the hostel. Ok, it is not a luxury hotel: it is 25$ a night. But it was fairly clean, the people were really nice (the owner and the other people who stayed...

Old school type hostel. Nice staff, clean, but rough.. If you've only ever stayed in clinical modern hostels or hotels, then this might not be for you. I liked it. Its also in a really nice area. Good food and bars close by

Lovely visit. After a sleepless night on planes and buses from the Balitmore hostel, it was a warm safe friendly place to stay the night before continuing my journey. January is the off season and I was the only guest. It was clean, although I was able to find 20 minutes of cleaning to do, because that's part of hosteling...

Saying "it's a hostel" doesn't justify the fact that the accommodations are disgusting and the service is terrible. Soulard is a great neighborhood and this location has a lot of promise. It's a shame that the only hostel in the area is a dilapidated mess. I've stayed in hostels all over the world and this is by far the worst....

saw one review saying it is in a shady neighbourhood, they obviously never went outside! soulard even ranks no.2 in the list of best st louis areas. It's quaint, w/ nice brownstones, cute restaurants and friendly bars and a very nice little supermarket and also 2 buslines to bring you downtown in about 10 minutes. The hostel is comfortable, and...

Doesn't reflect the quality of other reviews because it is a hostel... Rated as a hostel -not hotel. Know the people that run it. It is maintained the best it can be (manager is good, owner is, well, not very helpful to his staff). If you need a cheap place to stay and are adventurous. Not recommended for people with...
