The best thing about this hotel is the driver of the shuttle, since transportation is included in the hotel fee (the hotel has no restaurant and especially in the evening is tricky to come back in the dark, since the hotel is uphill). He is kind and hard working.
Breakfast was also good, but what I did not like was the person at the reception, who I think was the owner. So rude and, as per Swiss culture, totally not flexible when we requested to be given information on other moment.

We could not recommend this hotel more highly. They could not have been more helpful when we had to relocate from our chalet to the hotel in the middle of the night due to a local forest fire, and they made sure we always had the latest updates from the local emergency services in the following days. We were put up in an apartment which was perfect for us, and we even took advantage of the spa facilities which were wonderful. Our thanks to to everyone at the hotel for taking such good care of us.

We were in an apartment that was part of the hotel and there was plenty of space. The location is great and the pool is nice, especially with children (even if they cannot go there after 6.30 pm). The restaurant (outside of the hotel) was not particularly good, though.

We stayed here with family for 2 nights, had a great time at the location as well as the near by surroundings. Hotel rooms were quite big and overall very clean. Staff is friendly. There is indoor pool, sauna and gym. All very well maintained. There is parking outside on site as well.

Very cosy hotel with a very particular atmosphere! The personnel is very kind. The atmosphere is ideal to relax. Very good for families with kids. The ski resort is near with an excellent choice of slopes. In case of bad weather, the salty swimming pool makes the day! To be recommended.

We stayed a week in a spacious room. Beds ok, Bathroom ok. Breakfast good quality, with ample choice. The looks of the hotel interior are not so very much 4 star, but the staff is friendly and of course there is very nice swimming pool. During our stay this pool was never crowded.
Our room was very spacious with a nice sunny balcony. The furniture was nice and comfortable.
We booked with the 3 course evening meal in the nearby restaurant which is real good value for the money. The location near Brig is very good for trips in the area.

Went there for 2 nights with an offer that included room, breakfast and dinner. With access to the spa/salty swimming pool and so.
The place is old, but renewed, not trendy at all but the rooms are hugh. They have a kitchen a table with chairs, bed, a sofa with tv... very good, clean and renewed, but as I said do not expect cool design and nice furniture...
The place is very nice.
They have a pretty big swimming pool with salty water, with jacuzzi and jets,
The restaurant is at 50m from the hotel. They provided a regular dinner (nothing special) and a candle menu (with a lot of little dishes).

Be aware, this hotel is not 4* according to current standards! The ratings on tripadvisor are quite misleading. It may have been an upperclass hotel when it was built ages ago, but the facilities are very outdated and only the bare minimum has been invested for maintenance. Even the neon sign on top of the hotel is falling apart and not working properly! Although the staff was friendly, the room cleanliness was poor (the toilet was still dirty from the previous guest) and when we complained, they did not apologize at check out. Breakfast was good. The “spa” is very small with a small sauna and steam bath. The pool, however, is nice.
For more than CHF200 a night, one could expect much more! Overall, we were disappointed and cannot recommend this hotel for this price!

Response from Markus S, Owner at Badehotel Salina Maris - Wellness & Vintage
Responded 1 Oct 2018
Dear Adoado Thank you for your review. We are sorry, that you din't enjoy your stay. We maintain and renovate our hotel regularly. We are not concerned with modernity. The neon sign can certainly not be used as a sign of poor maintenance, as they were damaged by a storm in August. In the meantime the repair work was carried out. Our wellness area (including pool) covers 800 sqm. This seems appropriate to us in relation to the 30 rooms that the hotel comprises. Yours sincerely Markus Schmid

We booked into this hotel last minute as we were on route to another 4*hotel in Chamonix (Hôtel les Aiglons Resort & Spa) and we knew that we would not be able to complete the journey in 1 day. We choose the Salina Maris as the pictures looked great on the website and the idea of a morning swim/spa treatment was very appealing to us. We knew we would be arriving late but were surprised that even though reception was closed there was no night porter to greet us or note to say to call a certain number. We were told our room wasn't in the hotel but in another building behind which was a block of self catering apartments. The room was absolutely not of the same standard as of those shown in the pictures of the hotel and after a long days travelling we were very disappointed. It was clean and had all of the basic commodities but was not at all what we expected for 149 euros. I understand that during this busy time prices are usually inflated however we stayed in another 4* hotel the following night and the contrast between the two was night and day for even less money.

Hotel is very nice, the people there are friendly and ready to help you in any situation. If you need any informantion, they are ready immediately to give you advice and to help you to find the best solution. The restourant was close, but they arranged shuttle bus to bring us to the next village to have a dinner and later to bring us back in the hotel.

"The family room has 6 beds. If you go with a family, definitely take the family room which is not expensive at all. It's actually a duplex with 2 separate rooms (2 + 4) on the higher level and living room and self-catering kitchen on the floor. Breakfasts are avaible in-room everyday. There is even a balcony with view to the mountain. Wonderful!"
