Right on main street. Excellent mountain and stream views behind hotel for a wilderness setting. Check-in integrates bar and restaurant facilities. Very clean and obviously well cared for by an excellent custodial staff.

Room was clean and quiet. We listened to the rushing stream out our window all night. At a cafe nearby we enjoyed a fresh Montana trout pan fried in butter, which is hard to find these days. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

My initial thoughts walking into this lodge were quite good. I thought cozy, cute, clean, friendly, wonderful lobby area to sit in, nice looking dining area and bar. We were checked in and went to our room that had some nasty smell, but the windows opened do I thought I would just air it out. The smell never went away....

We stayed here after an afternoon of sightseeing along the Beartooth Highway. We reserved the room a few days before our trip knowing choices might be limited as we neared YNP. The front desk area was nice, and the room was accommodating. The town is small and this lodge is along the main highway. We opened the windows for a...

This is our second visit to the Soda Butte Lodge and most definitely not our last. (We are from England) on this occasion we stayed for fourteen nights. The location of the hotel to the North East entrance to Yellowstone is just perfect being only four miles away, so early morning and late evening visits to the park are easily...

Just a couple of miles away from the Northeast entrance of the Yellowstone National Park, this place is really cool..good wifi, coffee available in the lobby, no breakfast however, slightly steeply priced but i guess it is because of the location. Just a small bit of caution, if you are arriving after 10pm, do inform them in advance since there...

I had picked this location because it is 5 minutes from Yellowstones north east entrance and it was the cheapest place with good quality reviews. I stayed here a Friday-monday. The front desk service was very nice. The outside is very nice, inside is a bit outdated however. My room was clean. Water pressure could've been better but I mean who...

Great location for heading into park- BUT "great" ends there- roughest sheets I have ever slept on. Noisy rooms. Ceiling fan broken. Leaky sink. Had to put blanket over door to block light from hallway streaming In room through the night. TERRIBLE service- ignored by the bartenders for about an hour in the bar/lounge area when we came down from...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cooke City is situated in the Beartooth Absaroka mountains. Accessible via Montana Hwy 212 Beartooth Scenic Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy 296 and Yellowstone National Park. Soda Butte Lodge is located on Main Street in the center of town. Our 32 guest rooms are located on two floors of the motel. We are also, the only full service motel in Cooke City with 3-meal restaurant and sports bar full liquor. The large lobby is a great place to relax, by the fireplace or by the windows to "people watch", play cards, read or visit with friends. We are just 3 1/2 miles from the north east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the infamous Lamar Valley where "wolf watching" is very popular. The area is ideal for wildlife viewing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling and many photo-ops. Winter in Cooke City is unlike no other. Extreme snowmobiling, snowboarding and cross country skiing at its' finest. Winter, the lodge, is only accessible through Yellowstone Park (Mammoth) or drive over Chief Joseph to Pilot Creek parking lot and snowmobile in the last 9 miles. Our area is rich in the things money can't buy: history, beauty, wildlife and hospitality. ... more   less
