I kept going back and forth of wanting to give this a two star. For the price compared to hotels not in/near a national park it's totally not worth it. When you compare this place to your other options in/near Glacier it all of a...More
Beautiful setting. Restaurant was surprisingly good, especially considering its remote locale. Hotel is rustic but that is part of the charm. Staff was fantastic! I left my backpack with laptop in the room. Housekeeping gave it to the manager who worked with me so I...More
We stayed here one night after coming over the Going To The Sun road from West Glacier and doing some hikes in the St. Mary area to fill out our day before moving on to Many Glacier the next day. There's some nice scenery, but...More
Context: Stayed three nights in a cabin with my wife, with two twin beds in side. Furnishings were simply and straightforward, with small shower, sink and toilet in the bathroom. There are two rooms to a cabin, so you share a cabin with another guest,...More
We stayed at the Motor Inn, not the cabins. Our room was quite small. Although this was not the cleanest hotel, it was not the worst either. It really was average, but since it's in the park the price for the rooms is a little...More

The cabin I stayed in was a double cabin...2 rooms per building. There were no chairs outside and the porch was not large enough to accommodate chairs if someone wanted to go inside the cabin. Our view from the front was the dirt road and the back was full of trees. We could hear the river but couldn't see it due to the thickness of the trees!

The speed limit on the Sun road is low. It depends on how much you are familiar with driving on mountain roads and your comfort level. I'd say it's about the same as driving to Mariposa at Yosemite and a little better than the road to Hurricane ridge. The road is wide enough for a sedan IMP. The area close to the rising sun goes around the cliff at st MARY lake. Try look at google map/earth to see for yourself. You can always take the shuttle or join the red bus tour, especially the secret valley tour to two Medicine it is quite nice and only takes half a day. The road to many glacier is fine and has no major drop offs. If your goal is to hike at many glacier, just remember it is about 40 min away. If you'd want to visit lake McDonald valley, it is quite a drive away and you may want to find a place over west glacier.
