A huge resort with over 700 rooms and a water park ideal for children. Buggy service was available to ferry occupants from their blocks to the reception and restaurants. It was fun taking the rides! However, the cleanliness of the room could be improved as we could see dust on the stairs. Taps in the room and toilets need to be repaired as one of them generated a loud “engine” noise when turned on and the other was movable! Wifi was restricted to only one login, additional towel request need to pay $5 and no tissue box in the room. All these were unexpected from the stay.

We booked a three bedroom and a two bedroom, the apartments were very comfortable. The units were furnished and we had more than enough mineral water bottles.
The apartments were cleaned everyday and when requested fresh towels were given.
The staff were very friendly especially Rathinakumar, cordially known as RK. He organised everything from our reservations at the restaurants and also made sure he organised meals for my father in law who is 89 years old and was on a soft diet.

Our Christmas holiday was so pleasant and will definitely return to Lotus Desaru with more friends and family.

A Big Thank you to RK and his team.

This resort is perfect for a short family gateway. We booked two units of the one-bedroom suite, the front desk told us that the two rooms were nearby, but it was not. So, if you book more than one room, you may need to request the next room or connecting room. We stay on the 4th floor and the water pressure was not good. The food service in this resort is very good, good crowd control. Although the restaurant is full, we did not have to queue a long line to get our food. The front office and F&B staff were attentive.

Stayed 2 nights on last Thursday and Friday to celebrate our 36 years wedding anniversary.

Check in was very smooth and although the compound is huge, it was easy to find our block and rooms.

It was peaceful and quiet on Thursday night but the whole place came to life on Friday night with many activities. We had a wonderful time watching the sunrise at the beach which is 5 mins walk from our room. The sandy beach and sea is very clean.

We were told that Desaru Lotus Resort is about 15 years old. We were very impressed with a very well maintained compound which gives visitors a very homely and welcome feeling. The rooms are spacious and although room’s utilities and furniture are old, they are still in working condition.

What impressed us most is the attitude of the staff whom we had the privilege to chat with. The resident singer, Mr Raj who has a wide range repertoire of 70s and 80s songs serenaded us for more than 1 hour non-stop while we were having our sumptuous dinner at the SeaFood Restaurant. Because of the delicious food, good ambience, the friendliness of Mr Raj, we decided to have our 2nd night dinner at the same restaurant. And of course, the must try Tom Yam soup and very fresh fish with reasonable prices.

On Saturday morning there was a huge crowd at breakfast. We were again very impressed by the service staff efficiency. We spoke to one of them who was clearing the tables and to our surprise, he told us that he is the general manager. From our short conversation with the friendly Mr Vijaay, we could sense the pride and commitment he puts into his job. He walks the talk as a GM who cleans table with his team of staff.

On Friday, when we wanted to give a small tip to the male room service staff who has cleaned our room, he politely declined saying that it is his job to clean our room.

From this very positive attitude of these three staff, I am sure Lotus Resort is in good hands.

This resort is value for money and good for a short stay of 3 days.

This is our 3rd time staying at Lotus but unfortunately it marks our last. In comparison to our first few visits, this was our worst.

The only good thing we noticed this time round was there is an electronic queue system for check in. In peak periods, this certainly is more organized and less chaotic for guests.

We stayed in room S404. The room looked like it has not been refinished since we were here 4-6 years ago. Seemed like things have been left to deteriorate in his original state and not much is done to fix them.

Toiletries rack in bathroom is loose so it’s slanted, your bottles cannot stand upright. This thing doesn’t serve its purpose then.

Cupboard doors don’t close tight, drawer handle of dresser table is missing.

Day curtains had stains it was disgusting to touch when you want to open the door to get out to the balcony.

Breakfast included in the package was served in the hall and it was extremely chaotic. Felt like dining in a school canteen with long queues and smell of oil in the air because of all the frying that’s happening in the hall.

I just came from another hotel in Austin Hill JB where I paid the exact same rate per night but the experience there was way closer to a hotel standard. Lotus should be a chalet. We won’t be back and won’t be recommending this place for sure.

We stayed for 3 nights at Desaru Lotus this week from 10 - 14 January (3 couples) and were impressed by several of the staff. The buggy driver, though a special needs person was the most helpful and friendly guy at the resort. The housekeeping group too was so pleasant and helpful. We asked for change of towels (thinking that our 3 nights stay would not include daily cleaning) and were very pleased that it included daily housekeeping. They were efficient and so happy to do their job. We understand that not a single staff was laid off during the MCO period but were given maintenance and housekeeping duties.

Syabas and well done to the management of Lotus. Thank you for keeping all your staff!

Indeed this place deserves all the support we can give.

Special mention to the Entertainer at the Seafood Restaurant, Raj sang for 4 straight hours without losing his voice! And all the 60s and 70s hits. We sang and clapped along. He should receive more advertisement.

We booked a 3 bedroom suite and the room had a mouldy smell upon checking in.We came on a Friday evening and had groups and groups of guests arriving for a company event maybe. It was way too crowded and noisy and not anything like a peaceful beach getaway.
The kids liked the waterpark and the beach. The water park needs more maintenance and the rubber mats are swollen and very risky for kids.
The breakfast spread was very basic with little western food and more local dishes. It was like a food court with people queuing up and very noisy and messy.
Overall I wouldn’t come back here if I want a quiet and peaceful weekend.
The kids liked the water park and the beach so there’s nothing else apart from that.
And the massage- please skip without wasting your money. I took a 90min massage with Catherine and she had very dry hands that scratched me throughout the 90mins and she kept burping the whole time and it was the most awful massage I’ve ever had for the price I paid.
Honestly I wouldn’t bother coming back here.

The rooms are huge and spacious with microwave, living, dining and bathtub.
We really enjoyed the water park especially the lazy river and coconut splash. A bird sanctuary and archery to explore and have fun. A fun fair for kids activities and variety of breakfast buffet to choose from even complimentary newspapers. The seafood restaurant to have our birthday dinner. The resort was huge and clean with friendly staff. Value for money and we will definitely be back again.
No beach because of the sand blocking the views. We recommend people to Stay at block F facing the water park and on upper floors.
Kudos to the management and all resort staff for making my birthday stay so special.

This place have some kind of love hate feelings to it. Shall start with the Pros, the rooms are huge, i got a 3 bedroom room and is really a 3 bedroom apartment room with 2 toilets. There are 2 swimming pools, 1 beneath my block, 1 water park (kids can spend hours there), there is a beach. Pretty good to spend 3 days there. Oh the seafood there is good and affordable, there is a kids club, the main coffee house serve decent price and tasty food (not the buffet, go for the ala carte). The staff are excellent and responsive despite the crazy crowd.
Now the cons, the rooms are superdated, the bathtub is unusable, the aircon is wall mounted type (huh?), no make up room (too busy?), the room is not so clean, lizard waste everywhere (no big deal but some people wont like it). Breakfast is not good and very crowded for the holidays.
Some tips for travellers, as the price is good, the other upmarket resorts is twice as much, try to ask for rooms nearer to lobby (makes your life easier), I stayed in M block and there are alot of monkeys, yes they are irritating. The staff will chase them with firecrackers type of device. Make sure you remember your towel card or you aint getting your towels.
Would I recommend, for the fun/staff and price - yes, for the dated rooms - not really.

The worst check in ever we have waited for almost 4 hours and no any discount given by the hotel very poor management. Will consider for next vacation. While waiting we ordered food it was terrible as the chicken were half cooked and served with frozen pizza. I wish Gordon Ramsey were here to share his view on lotus food.

During my visit (Aug2020), we enjoyed a buffet dinner at Teratai Coffee House. If I'm not mistaken the price is MYR28++ for adult and MYR14++ for children, but not sure if this was a promotion at that time.
