Pros 1. Access to beach although the beach is quite steep and not swimmable. Beach area has beach hut that's close proximity with one another 2. Variety of food for breakfast although most item such as bread section and the mains were minimally changed throughout our 4D3N stay. 3. Bed were clean when we arrived, everything required such as towels, mineral water, toiletries, sewing kit, iron and ironing board all provided. 4. They have game room and kids room which is good and comfortable for kids to play around. Cons 1. We booked two rooms for our stay paying RM3000 for a 3 Night stay, which is around SGD$$900++ for interconnecting room facing the pool. 2. It was my daughters birthday, and hence I asked if they do have complimentary cake which normally hotels with the same rate we paid for would've provided us with a sliced cake at least complimentary. However Sand and Sandals sent us an email quoting me Half kg cake for Rm150, 1 kg cake for RM300 and RM30 for sliced cake. Such a turn off but we decided to give it a chance. Id understand the steep pricing if this is an island whereby transporting food incurred additional cost, but this is mainland hotel and Secret Recipe is just around the corner. SnS can do better than this. 3. Breakfast for kids is chargeable with us paying additional RM140 for the 3 days. For the price paid, Its really not worth it. 4. Housekeeping was bad.. despite doing room cleaning, our rubbish bin was not cleared on second day. Floor still has stain marks means it was not mopped only swept. 5. The refrigerator has very strong unpleasant smell when we open it 6. This is the worst part, we called housekeeping for additional mineral water and they took 4 hrs/3 calls to deliver them. I had to explain that I need it for my younger daughter who needs her milk and had ran out of clean water to drink before they have it delivered. 7. You can order from Grab, but Hotel do not allow Grab/Foodpanda riders to deliver food into the hotel vicinity, so you would have to walk out to the main gate to collect them, although this means that you have to walk quite a distance, especially if your room is situated at far end of the hotel eg near the beach. The hotel has so much potential to be an alternative gateway for Singaporean to stay for staycation, but I'd say stick to Johor Bahru or go for other resort or pay slightly more and stay at Hardrock or westin, The current price point doesn't seems justified, especially given the subpar level of hospitality service.

If you have other choices, best to avoid this resort. This is a resort that refused to be good. Every good thing you see, there will be 2 to 3 bad things you get. The room was clean and proper however few safety lapses (sharp edges, poor furniture choice, no carpet, gloomy lighting) and a loud bathroom door dented the mood. Worst of all, the service was really poor, slow and well below expectation. Request for mineral water took a few hours (after 3 calls to the front desk operator).

You know it’s bad when the grab driver who sent you here had a better service attitude than 95% of the staff in this hotel. Due to an error with our online booking, we had to shorten our stay at the previous hotel and with 24 hours notice, SNS was the only one within the RM1000 price range I was willing to pay. The only room type available was the couple suite so we begrudgingly booked it instead of the usual single floor room that our small family needs. The entire hotel was extremely run down. It was a surprise that it was just reopened in 2018. COVID was supposed to hurt humans’ health but it seems that this hotel was also badly damaged. Cracked walls, dirty grooves, dusty surfaces, rubbish still left in the corners of the room and the entire two storeys had sand scattered and our feet were darkened just by walking around the room. To be fair, the room was huge with the living and recreation area at L1 and the bed with an ensuite bathroom on L2. Bed was decent, tv had sufficient channels. Random light switches were faulty and lights were flickering all over the room. Was it a themed lunar 7th month package? I definitely would not have spent RM1000 on this room seeing it in this state. To think that the cost of the room might be higher than some local salarymen, SNS is really taking the consumer for a ride. Hard Rock Hotel down the road would only cost me RM150 more but I decided on SNS due to the kids activities. Through our interactions in the resort over the last 120 minutes, there is no hospitality at all and everyone seemed to be rushing somewhere. One of the housekeeping guys even pressed the door close button in the lift when my wife was exiting with my son. When I checked out the Senses Spa to try and book a massage for my wife, it was the same feeling I got. Transactional staff, run down furniture and fittings. It’s only our 3rd hour here and I already can’t wait to leave. Let’s hope the beach and breakfast makes up for the terrible waste of money. The only staff I would speak to again in Muhammad at reception.

Found the hotel to be a nice weekend getaway, rooms clean and big with large bathroom and a bathtub on the balcony made a bath interesting. Pool and beach clean although the waves can get a bit rough. Nice staff, receptionist and bar tender at pool bar very friendly. A good weekend well spent . Will be back again when in Desaru.

I would like to express my gratitute to one of you valuable staff name Mr Amin ( I believed he from Concierge Dept) since he was the person whose accept me during my arrival and handling my luggage till the room (244) on 14 July,9.30pm. The quality of service delivered by your staff members during my trip has convinced me that I can always rely on your hotel for the home away from home feeling. He has helping me taking care of my kids while I’m struggling looking up for a parking space as we were arriving quite late. For you information, I’m one of the family member from Petronas team that having 3D2N program from 14-16 July. As I need to rush back today morning, I’m unable to find Mr Amin to give my token of appreciation but it would be great if the hotel able to send this message to him and let him know how grateful I am for his top notch services. Lastly, thank you so much for the warmth and hospitality of the staff at your hotel, this has turned out to be the best vacation I have had so far. Looking forward to spending time at the hotel again next time. Love, Putri Badriah

Crazy golf was okay… 55 MYR per person. We saw this from the road and had to try it. Our 8 year old son loves golf and this was a good chance to practice. It was pretty run down and I’ll maintained. There wasn’t even Astro turf but ironically I saw the staff gluing turf to the walls in the lobby - apparently they have enough to decorate with! definitely not worth the price.

The worst experience ever not worth it we paying expensive room but the services is not as what we paying.hotel room not clean, aircond problem, unprofessional duty manager name Fitri. As Duty manager he should learn more about customer service n how to handle complain. I saw a lot of complain about this hotel almost 2 years n expect their management & GM take action but yet its really unacceptable because the problem still the same. Sand & Sandle GM Lily & Higher management really need to loon into this matters. From my side i already do what i should do & share it in social media and gone viral. Main reason to ensure other guest not get worst experience like us. I not only received same complain from other guest that experience same issue but also got complain from sand & sandle staff also that working there. Please improve your services as mentioned your hotel ranking is 5 stars but your services not up to the standard. Is really shamefull.

Absolute worst service that we decided to check out a day early and are requesting for refund for the 2nd night that we did not stay there. This is my second time here because the first time was ok. Don’t know why it all went downhill. The event that ticked us off was restaurant (Spice & Herb) staff’s attitude. This is 1 of 2 restaurant the resort has. (Actually both restaurant are just next door and they share the same kitchen). Got seated during lunch, (restaurant is not at full capacity as there are plenty of empty seats) it was so hard (took as 5min?) to get a staff to take our order, finally waved for 1 (name: Abas?) but he signalled to wait, so we did. Another 5-10min passed by, and we saw him with other staff crowding at the cashier just chit chatting. When he passed by our table, we called for him but he ran off. I went after him and he sheepishly smiled saying that his piece of paper is full to take our orders. ???????? Take a new piece of paper? Why does it take so long??? He said he will get back to us immediately. Yet another 5-10min passed by and he was just hovering around the cashier. At this point, we gave up. We went to the cashier, he saw us, and when I was calling out for him, he literally ran off. The cashier feigned ignorance and said he will tell his staff about it in the most nonchalant attitude ever, dismissing our frustrations. On top of this, everything service related is extremely slow. On the first night, we called for water + 2 canned drinks, only the water came and we had to remind them. Lunch took 20-25min to come despite having no other customer in the restaurant. On the second day, called for room service to get 2 bottles of water at 9am, it only came at 2pm. After housekeeping, we realised that the floor mat was gone, so we called to inform at 11am, it didn’t even come at all. Also, for god knows what reason, the toilet was EXTREMELY stinky, smelled like absolute piss despite several empty flushed. At the bar/ restaurant, we ordered Long Island tea, they don’t have > Coke? They don’t have > Nutri Soy? They don’t have > 100+? Finally. Draught beer tasted diluted. Pool was full of dead bugs and looked murky. Amenities was so so SO limited. The beach in front of the resort was half covered with huge pieces of rocks. When we were requesting for early checkout, the “manager” probed further to ask why. After explaining, he just commented on his difficult position because he had been receiving a lot of complaints from other customers as well. ???????? Are you telling me this is the norm? I told him that what we are expecting ain’t even fancy service but basic service because we know that this is not some 5 star resort? He just kept reminding me on how he is bearing the grunt of all customers’ complaints. To me, this is not an explanation and what I’m hearing is, “slow is normal” and “this kind of service is normal”. Not acceptable. To top it off, the resort is taking the SLOWEST time to “approve” the refund. I’m still waiting.
