Stay away from this hotel. Staff upon check-in wasn't friendly at all. Went up to the room and instantly asked for an upgrade because my restroom at home is bigger than the deluxe hotel room. Asked for an upgrade and the suite was ok, but they gave me an incorrect price that was going to be charged to my card....

The room was smaller than the room we had on a cruise ship. According to the fire escape map we were placed in the smallest room on the floor. It was barely half the size of the other rooms on the floor. When we entered the room the door wouldn't open beyond 45 degrees because it hit the bed. The...

If you arrive knowing what to expect, Golden Gate is a great downtown stay. Coming off a convention on the strip, I just wanted a smaller place to gamble and have fun and this place provided it. Small casino, but lots of energy and fun. Opted for the Golden Gate Suite which was larger than a lot of resort rooms...

This place has the nerve to force a $30/day "resort fee" in addiition to the room rate Yet: 1. No coffee in the room! Instead they have a sweetheart deal w/ Starbucks, so I had to shell out over 4 bucks for a simple black coffee. 2. No refrigerator in the room 3. Paper is not delivered to door but...

Stayed in the Golden Gate Suite. I got a great rate through Groupon, but their normal rates were only about $15 more. Large leather sectional, nice king bed, unique bathroom set up that doesn't have a door, but a large wrap around sheet but does have separate doors to the toilet and to the dual shower head shower. Friendly staff....

This was my 1st stay at the Golden Gate Hotel in Las Vegas and was really looking forward to staying there next to the Fremont experience. But I was sadly disappointed . I had requested an early checkin both the day before and the morning of checkin and stressed I wanted a "quiet room"but when I got there at 230...

We did not stay here, but we did play some table games and had some drinks. We have visited here probably about 7 times and always enjoy our visit. It can be a little loud, and that makes it difficult when trying to communicate with the dealers. Also, they once had a great restaurant that was recently shutdown. We always...

You know what the staff were 100% the rooms were 75% but the smell of the building was a 0! The smell of cigarettes in room 333 made me sick, I asked for a swap and was told to swap was 30$ extra a night

Stayed at the Golden Gate for two nights with Groupon which turned out to be really cheap, something like $25-29 a night from what I remember. Our room was just okay. Apparently it was larger than others. The carpet, desk and bathroom were pretty gross but I'm happy to say that the bed seemed clean. The room faced Fremont street...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Accurately billed as Las Vegas' "Most Historic Hotel," the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some. Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest and cozy corner establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town -- and the world -- changed around it. Most notably, the Fremont Street Experience was built right outside its door. Very little has changed to compromise the hotel's old school charm in the intervening years, although the Golden Gate has made improvements and modernized. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. The rooms themselves, on the other hand, have been updated and include modern amenities like flat screen televisions and iHome clock radios. The casino is just as active as opening day -- and just as intimate -- although now its boasts Dealer Dancers from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. Its shrimp cocktail -- widely acknowledged as the first ever served in Las Vegas -- is as popular as the day it was introduced. Even as Las Vegas builds toward the heavens, the Golden Gate keeps close to the ground, rooted in its rich and wildly successful history. ... more   less
