Decided to visit because the Fox Tavern inside is listed as the oldest bar in New Hampshire. Arrived a little earlier than expected and didn't realize they didn't open for a few more hours. However the owner was nice enough to open up the bar and let us have a beer. I would highly recommend a visit if you are...

The Hancock Inn is our #1 "go to place" to get away, slow down, and totally relax. We have been coming here for many years and expect to continue this tradition for many more. The Inn is beautifully decorated, especially at this time of year. The food is fantastic--some very traditional choices and always a number of new and different...

The Hancock Inn was a very pleasant surprise as was the quaint NH town of Hancock. This was our first visit to the town and the inn. We look forward to our next visit and would highly recommend this inn.

Thank you, Paul, for your very nice review! Pleasant surprises are always the best are they not? It is true about the Monadnock Region as a whole we have to say. It tends to pleasantly surprise people that may have been driving past to the mountains or lakes regions for years who now discover something that is closer and, yet,...

Beautiful location, food was incredible (love the sticky pudding!) and the entire Inn was beautiful and meticulously maintained. Looking forward to coming back again soon. Thank you for such a memorable experience.....

Thank you so much for your kind review and the "shout out" to our staff who work so hard to keep this old building ship-shape! Nothing means more than hearing we'll see you again. Enjoy the holidays.

We have stayed at this historic inn a number of times and it has always been excellent. The owners and staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and clean. Our only regret is that the restaurant no longer caries the traditional cranberry roast beef dinner. The alternate choices are great however.

Thank you for the nice review and, especially, for continuing to make The Hancock Inn part of your travel routine! We are trying to figure out, however, how you came away with the impression that the Shaker Cranberry Pot Roast is not on the menu anymore. It is most definitely on the menu. We asked our chef if he had...

We've stayed at this inn twice now. The whole inn is beautiful but there's more to it than that. The atmosphere created by the owners is something very special. There was a wedding party staying at the same time as us. In fact we were the only couple at the inn who weren't part of the wedding group. We thought...

This such a nice review. Thank you. Ignacio our very good bartender also thanks you. Most especially, Potter thanks you for spreading the word about his penchant for bacon. He celebrates the power of social media...social anything, really, as he is a golden retriever. We will look forward to the possibility of helping you celebrate your 35th wedding anniversary next...

We just stayed one night, but really enjoyed our stay. Both my girl friend and I loved the mattress. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. At one point, after we had left, I realized I had forgotten my Ipad. Dashed back, and there it was waiting for me at the front desk.

Hancockinn, Owner at Hancock Inn, responded to this review

Thank you very much! Being in the innkeeping business means things like mattresses and breakfast are very important to us - as we know they are to our guests. So, glad they met your expectations during your visit! (P.S. We love the picture of sauteed scallops you use for your Trip Advisor picture. They look delicious.) Many thanks. Please come...

Beautiful place with tons of history! If a historic little bed and breakfast is what you are looking for, look no more! The staff is attentive and they make you feel like you are home. The rooms are adorable, gardens lush and breakfasts amazing! Don't forget to visit the farm goat next door.

We stayed two nights at this beautiful inn and by the time we left I felt we had new friendships with both the owners and staff that support them. Thank you so much for your very nice review! You were excellent company and it was great fun helping you connect with your family's history. Early on in our tenure at The Hancock Inn we came to understand that one of the things uppermost in people's minds when they first arrived was history. Had a really enjoyable stay at the Hancock Inn. Furnishings from a different era and having a bath in bedroom reminded me of cowboy films. Good meal and drinks and had good fun. Expensive but a nice treat.

Thank you for your vey nice review. Cowboy films! Absolutely. Claw foot tub in the room. Of course. But, in those films someone - the innkeeper, we suppose - has to bring the hot water up bucket by bucket. We're kind of glad that's not necessary these days. We hope you'll come see us again sometime soon. Very best, Jarvis

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hancock Inn is a historic property in Hancock, New Hampshire. Built in 1789, it is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating inn. The inn has 14 rooms for overnight accommodations that are exceptionally well-appointed with period antiques and inclusive of modern amenities, such as in-room chargers, waffle-weave spa robes, flat screen televisions with built-in DVD and wifi throughout the building. Many rooms have gas or electric fireplaces. There are numerous common areas around the inn for the enjoyment of our guests, upstairs and down. The two sitting rooms on the first floor, one with with a Rumford fireplace, are hallmarks of the inn's warmth and hospitality, separating it from the usual of being away, making it feel closer to home. Outside, the inn's 1.5 acres of gardens and field (which includes a professionally maintained croquet pitch in the summer) connect visitors to the Monandock region's preserved landscape and scenery. In the winter, join countless avid snowshoers and cross country skiers and, other times, experience the lakes, rivers and trails that crisscross our corner of the world. The inn's fine dining restaurant, The Fox Tavern, is open seven nights a week. The farm-to-table menu features New England favorites relying on locally raised beef, pork and poultry, plus cheese, fruits and vegetables from area growers, including vegetables from our own gardens. The Tavern's reknowned, cooked-to-order breakfast is served complimentary to house guests. Come to the Hancock Inn and learn why it has been characterized as "the near perfect expression of the New England village inn." ... more   less
