We stayed for Mother's Day weekend. The room was nicely laid out and very comfortable. The staff was quite friendly. Lovely indoor pool. Beautiful grounds and a marina. Beautiful location and you can tour the area leisurely by car Very attractive.

Service is unbelievably awful On arrival to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in early, at noon instead of 4pm. This meant our 2 year old would be able to nap! But the reception was pretty cold and no one offered to help us with our bags so we went up in multiple trips since we had 2 small kids. The concierge lady at the other desk was super friendly when we asked what family friendly activities there were to do around the area and gave us great suggestions that we used and enjoyed. The room is big enough considering this hotel was built in 1870 and bathrooms are nice but the pillows were poor quality. We have two Queen beds and overlook the water (but not the marina which was misleading) and our price is $470/night no breakfast or anything included. In the room, there was a scan code for the menu for in room service so I scanned it, decided on the order and called down. Was asked ‘if I was aware that the menu was out of date’ um no I just arrived and why would I be aware of that. Was asked if I wanted to walk down to the restaurant to pick up a menu or have one brought to the room? Why is this a question? Bring one to the room please... so the food comes and I am told that there is going to be a fire alarm test in 60 mins. Oh. Forget those naps, we leave and get into our car so my son can nap while we drive somewhere. None of the restaurants on the marina are open, Salt is open but outside seating is currently not. No apologies offered, just cold attitudes about what is available as if it is common knowledge. Service at Salt was slow. Waited 15 mins for orange juice and someone to take our order, with 3 servers and 4 tables. Server did not write down our order and predictably got it wrong (why do they do this? No one is impressed when their memory works) I had to call down to ask about whether the room would be cleaned or towels replaced, was told no. Only after 3 days because of covid protocols. Ok sure. Can I have some more towels though please? Sure, they said. Did any towels come? They did not. Ordered a bottle of wine from Salt room service and waited. Waited 20 mins and called back to check if it was coming. It sounds like they forgot. The pool was nice, we were the only ones in there which was great. The hot tub was out of service though. We did not use any spa services. All in all, it’s a pretty hotel in a beautiful location but I am in disbelief at how bad the service was. We are not new to hotels in this price range and have never experienced service even close to this poor.

In all honesty, I would only recommend the Wentworth Marriott with extreme caution. If it is convenient for an event/wedding…and that’s about it. There were so many headaches with our stay that looking back on it, I wish we had stayed someplace else. The front desk doesn’t seem to know what is going on. I asked about breakfast being included but was told no. Then after inquiring about the benefit with my Titanium Elite status, he looked confused as if he never realized this was a possibility. Luckily there was a kind woman colleague next to him who pointed out where the breakfast vouchers were, and one pack already had my name on it. Maybe this kid is a new front desk agent, but something like this, or the fact that housekeeping would not come at all during our stay to provide us with a full service, seems to be a no-brainer (FYI, the latter of which we were never told and only found out on Day 2 that we would not be receiving housekeeping service because of COVID). Our room was right near the elevator, and I would suggest getting a room in any other location on the floor except by the elevator. We could hear everything. The room also needed a good dusting (there were also cobwebs in one of the corners by the window), the carpets were largely stained with something red near the wall by one of the beds, and there was a bunch of hair, dirt, and grime piled up into one corner of the bathroom tile...and this is a category 7 Marriott hotel. Oh, and one of the windows had no window guards, so you could open the window all the way up and climb out on to the roof if you wanted. I guess you could say we had “roof access” as a benefit with this room…sadly, we didn’t use it. We did not use the pool either because it was largely overrun with kids and families (what do you expect when you travel on school vacation week). But they do have towels down by the pool. We did not book any services at the spa either, so I cannot comment on that. What I will comment on is the giant headache of Salt (the restaurant). First off, can they need to ditch paper napkins and provide guests with cloth napkins. I’m not dining at the Red Roof Inn. Second, the menus clearly were photocopied (very poorly) because of COVID I assume…but how hard is it to print a basic looking clean menu instead of a photocopied one that has dots all over it and is hazy? Simple things like this were clear indications that this place has issues. Upon ordering, I informed our server that we had a breakfast voucher, but he said to not worry about that until the end when he would collect it. So I assume everything is available to us on the menu then? We ordered and he didn’t say otherwise. I ordered a main breakfast plate as well as a soy milk latte. They had a latte on the menu, as well as soy/almond milk. However, he informed us that they were unable to do a soy milk latte (hot). The only way he could do it would be cold (over ice). I didn’t really understand why it couldn’t be served hot…so I went along with the iced soy latte. He brought the bill at the end of the meal, forgetting we had the vouchers, and then finally tells us that everything is included with the voucher except the iced soy latte. Okay? The next morning (after a 25-minute wait to be seated by the way…) I order the same exact breakfast with a different server. She tells me they cannot to a soy milk latte. I told her that I had one yesterday morning, and her colleague made it for me iced/cold. She looked so confused and said “Well I’m going to have to ask how to do this…we don’t normally do that.” I informed her that it wasn’t a big deal. It’s soymilk, espresso, and ice. Not. Rocket. Science. Our food arrives before our drinks, and the (different) woman who brought our food asks if we needed anything else. We said yes…our drinks. She said oh, what did you order to drink? I’m sorry, but how is the staff this out-of-the-loop with each other? Once I said that I ordered a soy latte, she exclaimed, “Oh well that’s the problem! We don’t do that.” I said, actually, you do do it because your colleague did it yesterday for me, and you have a latte on the menu as well as soymilk…so what is the big deal? She finally told me that the machine doesn’t have soymilk and they have no capability of steaming milk. It’s basically a DIY coffee machine that exists in most Hotel Lounges…except the restaurant is using it at Wentworth. Epic. Fail. I think I threw these two gals for a loop with asking for a simple soy latte because when it arrived, she brought me a class of soy milk, a separate glass of ice, and a shot of espresso. We had a laugh at the table. Get this: for this breakfast, my voucher somehow magically included the soy latte…perhaps it was because it was brought to the table DIY style. Who. Knows. Because of the long wait to be seated, and constant headaches at the restaurant, we chose not to eat breakfast there on the last day. We discovered a cute place in town and would recommend avoiding the restaurant at the hotel if you could. The grounds are a lovely place for what would be a beautiful hotel, but Wentworth seems to have so many problems that we left disappointed. It seems like the property has so much potential, but for the price they charge, I expect a lot more. Hopefully they’ll turn this historic hotel around.

In April 2021, we had the pleasure of holding our wedding reception at the Wentworth. We had planned the weekend’s events during COVID, and always maintained a “COVID plan” and “Non-COVID plan”, as we were determined to keep to our date and adapt as needed. The setting at the Wentworth is stunning, the function areas are gorgeous and the food is outstanding. But our highest praise goes to the event staff. All our guests commented that they had never had more attentive, more congenial, and more friendly staff at any wedding! The entire weekend went without a hitch from the personalized care for our weekend overnight guests (even though the 160-room hotel was fully booked both Friday and Saturday night), to seamless coordination with the outside vendors, to the coordinated “reveal” of the covered main course plates at each table, to refills of drinks and attention to our every whim. There are so many to thank, but we will specifically call out the Catering Manager, Laura Abraham and the Assistant Catering Manager Matt. The whole team including bell services (Ben), front desk, housekeeping (thank you for obliging the bride with daily service even during COVID), room service, chefs and kitchen staff, wait staff and bartenders knew about our wedding and treated our guests and us with outstanding customer service. Thanks to all!

It was overall very nice. I was taking my mother who had not been away for a long because of the current circumstances. I asked for a nicer room ( a very common request for sure) with a view of the water. It was not what I expected, a little disappointing. It's pricey and I guess I was thinking there would be more for the money. Our toilet did not work, but they did fix it quickly. There was something sticky on our bedside table and dark hairs on our comforter that were not ours. We also had an alarm going off in (I'm guessing) the vacant room next door. It went off in the middle of the night, but we called and it did stop. Went to Latitudes( down by the pool) for lunch, they had just opened that day. It was convenient, but very pricey and the soup was cold. The hotel has a nice feel to it, but I am not sure I would go back.
